Electric fuel pump question

Post by steved57 »

Hi all

Does anyone have any experience with using a push type electric fuel pump - ie Holley Blue - with the standard FB/EK fuel tank outlet? As you'll know, the outlet is mounted about 2/3rds up the side of the tank, but fed by a line from the bottom. If I mount my electric pump (the pump bit, not necessarily the motor) below the bottom of the tank, will the fuel siphon into the pump - or am I better off just getting a new connection welded into the bottom of the tank?

Cheers, :? Steve

Steve,

It should self-prime with the first full-load of fuel in the tank...may not prime if the first fuel load is less than 2/3. After that, it will syphon happily - vapour lock is very unlikely in the tank (more likely at the hotter carb end of the line). The Holley red in my EK wagon runs out of fuel and happily primes itself this way, albeit with a lower suction point.

Cheers,
Harv.
