Bit more progress

Post by Malcolm »

Hi all,

Have been waiting on my front end, other bits coming back from Rods Racks so I can start fitting the Supercharged V6. But in the mean time I've been playing around with some more body work, just getting things to line up ect. One thing I've done is got rid of that pesty vertical strip between the front and rear doors. Looks much better without it I think.
Also have been trying to get an idea of how it would look with 17's on it. What do you all think????

Cheers all

Mal

Getting rid of the pesky strip seems to be the "thing" to do, good progress on the body, what color are you going to paint it?
The wheels will go with the updated running gear, can you tuck the rear ones up inside the guard a bit more?
Keep the updates coming! 8)

The wheels are off the front of my Mustang. I was trying to get an idea of how it would look with the 17's on it.
I haven't bought wheels for it yet as I'm going to wait until I get the front end back so I can mount the wheel on and check for guard clearence.
I'm hoping to get 7 x 17 with a 4 1/2 backspace on the front and 8 x17 on the back. I've got Leyland P76 disc's for the front to try and get a bit lesser wheel track to allow for front guard clearence.
I'm going to get the ride height as low as possible depending on the front guard clearence I guess.
I got quiet a surprise at the cost of good wheels now days. For good billet wheels there quoting between $750 up to $900 per rim.
The rims I going to get are called Junk Yard Dogs (BOYD CODDINGTON)
I can get a set of those rims for around $2000.

Boral can have there pallet back when I'm finished with it.

Cheers

looking good dude yeh i'd go the 17s they will look great , u aint wrong about the price of wheels these days it is an absolute joke especially when the usa brands are cheaper than home grown brands like dragways they should have a good hard look at themselves . dragway have what they call the classic range yet they dont have our stud pattern arent fb's,ek's hg,hk,ht and toranas ozzy classics . oh also what have u got the rear end sitting on to get it so high off the ground i am currently fitting a 5 speed celica box and a hr diff need to get some height under the old girl

How are you Mal?
The strip between the doors on my car are also relieved of their duties. I haven't extended the doors yet did you do both? The other problem we will face is the stainless strip length what are you going to do there?
Mate it is coming along great!

Bit more progress

Hi yeprat1,

I have the car sitting on a pallet with wheels on it at the moment with stands on top of that. Plus I have a really high lift trolley jack thats worth its weight in gold.

Greg,

I just extended the front door only, about 8mm, and also filled the bottom corners to get rid of the cruve. With the chrome trim I was just going to move the front door trim back in line with the rear edge of the door. I'm hoping to only have to weld and move back 2 maybe 3 trim clip holes.

While I'm playing around with the doors I'm going to remove front and rear 1/4 glasses and put in full windows. I did that in a FJ sedan I had about 20 years ago. At that stage I think that mod was the newest thing since sliced cheese.

You must be progressing pretty well with your car also.

Cheers

Regarding the Chrome trim fellas just a tip, you have to make sure the rear door dosen't foul on the front door when opening, otherwise your nice panel work is going to be unstuck.

Regards John

PS Looks like I've started a trend.
