Ye Olde Bus

Post by Dakam »

Went to pick up the daughter from school this arvo. Sitting in the car, playing with my newish phone, and a tray truck pulls up accross the road with this old Austin bus on the back. Thought it looked REALLY COOL, so with my new technological communication device, I took these pics. Love the old ad on the back, you would be mad if you got rid of it.

Man I love old buses. Ive got a 52 bmc and a 48 austin. Both are cab over mini buses about the size of the one on that tilt tray. I'm planing on rodding the austin.
Ive tried to sell the bmc a couple of times but even though its a runner and has a good body I can't get $1500 for it.
ITs been good storage for stuff so I guess there is an upside to having it in the yard.

I reakon I might have to do a bit of looking around in this area.
Went to pick the daughter up on Thursday, and was too late to get a good carpark. I had to go up the road a bit and do a youie. Looked over in a padock behind the local church and saw 50s to 60s style roofs. First thought was FB/EKs :D :D :D . Got a park, picked up the daughter and went for a walk. There were 59s and 60s chevs, about 10 of the buggers and a few misc. cars as well, just out in the open in the weather. :(
Thats the second time this year I have picked her up and both times have seen some cool old shit !! 8) Might have to go for a drive around out there as there are bucket loads of old shed and endless padocks, you never know what you may stumble across.

I love old buses! That would look awesome done up, you should've got the towie to deliver it to your place

It reminds me of our hot rod club's old bus, it was a 1941 &*#@ Side Loader, each row of seats had it's own door. I wasn't around to get a ride in it but I've heard plenty of stories from Mum and Dad. They stopped to pick up a hitch-hiker one night but the guy kept walking when all 5 doors opened to let him on
It ran 33's at the drags with a Sidey in it but they got it down to 24 secs when they put a Chev motor in it
