FB, HR F/E Power steering, Any updated info?

Post by Squirralien »

Hi, I am just wondering if anyone out there has successfully got power steering in to the FB or EK with the HR front end,
I am doing this for my wife and My wife has little muscles :) and power steering would be very good for her,,,
Thanks
Steven

A bloke over here has fitted an electric power steering setup to an EK - its out of a Holden Cruze - very compact and fits up under the dash nicely . 8)

Apparently Suzuki Swifts use a similar setup.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Original ? I didn't think that power steering came out till the eh or somewhere around there,,,, if the Ek had power steering they must be so rare as I have never seen or heard of one till now, have you got any photo's maybe,,, not sure how much help it would be unless I found one and also if it would fit on the HR front end ?
but very interesting still to see, thanks Steve
Thanks

bat53retro,, is there any more info that you could give me on the HR front end and the VP rack, web site links ?,or a run down of your mods and if you did it or a shop,, sounds interesting,, because Im sure Steve won't send me his Original EK setup and Im not going to find one and on top of that I don't know if it would also go on the HR front end,,,

In the end this FB should have the 202, Auto, pwr steer, pwr windows, central locking and Air con,,
Thanks

You should post some photos of the set up Steve, I would be pretty interested in how they did it back then. The only other power steer system I have seen pre 60 was where a fella modified a Compact Fairlane pillar ram setup. Worked well for low speed but no good at road speeds.

Yes I would be interested in seeing photos, infact I would be interested in seeing any photo's of steering modifications if anyone wants to put any up or links to some,, I will search around as I get time but between the jobs that need doing and caring for my daughter time has been a bit scarce lately
Thanks

Hi Steven, I am without a computer at the moment and it has all my photos on there. Hopefully will have it back in a few days.

Mick, I am told this is the same as early chev ram, though, different to the style I had on my EH premier. Dr Terry said he had seen one like this on an EJ and that one was also factory fitted.

Hi Steven, this is on a one of a kind EK Holden and would most certainly be the first power steer Holden.

I will start a thread when I am up and running again.

Thanks,

Steve
