Post by tm 50 »

Parked in the drive Normaly the car would roll a bit on its own , didnt worry to much about it until i drove it , when i took the foot off the throttle it felt as if it was slowing down with a bit of Brake applied , feels as if the brakes are jammed a bit, cant smell anything felt al the rims seemed normal enuff! Before i start seaching for the problem any one experienced this B4 so dont have to fart arse around to much, Its all stadard, drums with a booster assist

Check all your rubber brake lines and as silly as it may sound tyre pressures. Failing that jack it up and check each wheel while in the air.

Must admit I havent checked the pressures for a while, was going to jack it up tommorrow nite , go through it wheel by wheel, i have a sneaky suspicion that when i had the booster fitted they may have twisted the line on the RHD side

Finally got a bit of time to check the brakes, after having a booster fitted, found out that they left the check valve in, removed it , put it all back together etc
started the car up, same deal, car wont roll, turn the motor off /or disconnect the vacumm and she rolls down the drive, anyone got any ideas, al the lines are where they should be

i had one do the same kind of thing but it was a firewall mounted one and it ended up being that the rod going from the booster into the back of the master cylinder wasn't seated into the cupped slot in the piston properly so as soon as there was any vaccuum it pushed the piston a bit (just enough to make the brakes rub and squeek in my case, but it was enough to stop it rolling on the driveway)

Is it the correct booster? There were several (at least 2 anyway) types of boosters, some for drum/drum and some for disc/drum combos. mcl1959 on the FE/FC forum would be able to tell you what is what if no-one else can.
