Post by dave a »

I'VE SEEN A FEW CONVERTIONS WITH TRI/RED MOTORS. JUST WONDERING WHAT YOU DO WITH THE GEAR SELECTOR INDICATOR OR THE LITTLE CLEAR PLASTIC DOHICKY THING.
DO YOU USE ONE FROM AN HQ,HT OR PAINT NEW LETTERS.I READ WHERE SOMEONE WAS GOING TO MAKE THEM FOR SALE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. :D :D :D

Sand down the back of your Hydro one to get rid of the letters and then stick or paint new letters on it, Trev 8) .

Page 12 starts to talk a little about the conversion John did but you have to get through a lot of very OT posts at times.

We're not the type to take heaps of photos so there's probably not much there visually that can help you. Each application will be different depending upon what cable set up you use, front or rear mounted racks, steering columns etc so, as usual there is no magic formula to follow.

Just remember that most of the cable set ups from the states (we used an Ididit one) are for LHD cars so you will need modify their brackets to suit a RHD car. Also some have aluminium sleeves (Lokar) for the column that won't fit an Aussie column perfectly so you may have to "adjust" that to size too.

John spent a lot of time working through all the issues on how to get it "right" and now that it's done it works a treat. He reckons the next one will only take a third of the time to do!

If you've got any further questions once you've sifted through the posts on "NosFEratu" send me a PM and we can always see about organising a good old phone conversation! John's more than happy to chat cars and what to look out for, right Fatboy?
