Powerplus make it in rattle cans , PP427 is the part number.

Eastern Auto Paint supplies, Bayswater - Vic have what they say is the original GMH "code".... I've seen the documentation and have mine painted in it....

But.... as you well know RB - it usually consisted of whatever the paint shop at the State factory poured into the mixing vat.....

I'm not totally convinced I have ever seen a "ferguson" light grey in an original vehicle.

Most I've seen have been similar to mine - with a greenish tinge or pretty much a darkish "neutral" gray.....

I remember seeing those greys with the greenish tinge when I was a kid Rosco.Sorta looks like the engine has been lathered in fresh engine oil!!
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

I've used the Power Plus 427 grey engine paint on my "grey" red motor and it's pretty close to the colour that I remember most of the original greys to be.

I find the Massey Ferguson grey to be a little bit too light in colour than the PP 427.

That said, there are enough original engined cars out there to pretty much indicate that there didn't seem to be a standard conforming colour along the production line and there were some tint variations along the way.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

lots of ppl will tell you not to use normal paint on engines and to use heat paint but i have used acrilics and never had a problem

Grey motor paint

Post by jmaddalena »

I have just painted my motor. any good auto paint shop would just mix it if you ask them to mix grey motor paint you should be ok .i think the Paint code is H10144 / D10367 this is a group 1 paint It is a miture of black ,white and oaka. my motor looks great but it is just enamel so I will see how this goes over time.I don't think standard grey motors get too hot in the engine bay???
