What type of sand blaster did you buy ? How much sand did you go through when you blasted the underside ?

I got the blaster on the web at Deals Direct about $140 from memory
No blow through when blasting went through 2 bags of garnet I swept it up and sieved it through some fly wire plan to blst the dash and around the doors as my painter wants the old paint left on
Just got home from work and I did a bit on the EK Ute so the Wagon will get some much needed attention next week
Painter has had a look so it should be in the panel shop within a few months

Hey all
Had some new sub frame sections made up as the rare Spares ones are to narrow (manual ones)
The CRS chassis kits are made for autos and rare Spare don’t make auto sub frame sections
Anyway hope to fit them over the weekend and then finally fit the chassis kit.
Ordered an Edelbrock power pack top end kit toady for the 350, should be here in 6-8 weeks.
Bit more rust to remove and then the wagon is off to the painters (just have to decide on the colour) possibly Twilight Turquoise with a bit of yellow tint and some Perl. Or it will be Poison Ivy (new commodore colour)
Still haven’t sorted the collapsible Colum may go wit a billet one.

This might be a stupid question WW , but why didnt you sort all that out BEFORE you painted the floor ?????
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Not a stupid question Blackie, I was originally only going to replace one side (left unpainted), but now I am replacing both so I can reinforce the subframe.
The paint is only first coat (KBS) and can be touched up with minimal fuss, is brush applied.

I got my collapsable steering column done by George from alien retro's who uses an original top and hg bottom. looks real good with an engineer certificate. (has the old column shifter smoothed off) He did my front end with rear rack to suit chev as well and my shortened commodore rack . Anything i needed for the build he can do at a good price or knows wear to get it. he's outside Bendigo i know its a bit far from you but he will ship. his number is 0438 324 661 or 03 5439 3233.

Finally got some time to work on the wagon today, I have built my lads a shed as a jam room (sound proofing and all) came up a treat.
Cut the extractor holes on the inner guards, will tidy up in the morning.
I will make up some stencils once I tidy them up, so as others can use them.
Hope get stuck into some rust repairs over the next few days and replace some sub frame sections.
The ally radiator I got sits a bit high, may change it over not to sure. Picked up some go fast bits for the small block.

Had a crack at fitting the CRS chassis kit today, what a piece of work that was. Not sure what car it supposed to fit but its not mine!
Gear box cross member fouls, had to make a new one. Front sub frame sections to narrow, had to make new ones. Rear sections did not fit leaf hangers, couple of hrs with 4ld hammer & clamps. Think will make my own next time.
In fairness the old girl ant to square neither, the chassis kit either looks strait or measures equal not both.
All said & done a few good days with the motor all fitted and inner guards cut in, chassis kit fitted and a good part of the rust cut out.
Hopefully get it off the rotisserie and fit the clip next time home. Then the small block is of for an acid tank & crack test, prior to rebuild.

lookin good, i wish mine was that far along . Do you know why they put the flang on the drivers side of the extractors? The dizzy I'm looking at looks the same as yours, does it have any clearance issues against the fire wall?

The flange is there so the extractor will fit through the inner guard hole with that section of pepe tremoved, Otherwise you would have 2 options
1. Remove the engine to fit the extractors
2. Cut a very large hole.
They require a bit of twisting and folding to fit, once I have cleaned up the holes I can send you a template if you wish.
At this stage I am not to sure what to boarder the holes with. I am thinking some 4-5 mm round bar and roll the edge over for a cleaner look.

Cool progress!
Dizzy should clear OK (standard Chev one does), but can be a bugger to get out once the motors in (tends to hit on the cowl lip as you lift it).
Drivers side cylinder head will probably foul on the firewall - adjust with BFH to suit

CRS chassis kits are notorious for not fitting correctly. About as good as their front ends
But I suppose the tolerances 50 years ago were not as spot on as now days and thank god some blokes strived to perfect HR front end conversions.

Those chassis kits are pox look like they were knocked up on a farm with whatever was lying around at the time .
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
