I didn't buy them Tim. The engine that they failed in i had built by rpm engines some time ago as i didn't have time to do it myself back then. I'll be getting my replacements thru .hm engines.

OK sory I thought you were already rebuilding it yourself as you were showing the failed parts.

No worries Tim. I'm doing it myself this time, I'm just at the strip down stage, although it was to only do the work for the full flow oil filter system till i found my bearing problem. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll get that all done and I'll get started with the repair come rebuild.

Loving the full-flow conversion

Those pictures are great for anyone else that wants to do the same thing.
I've read how-to's that talk about routing the oil pump discharge pipe out through the sump, but that seemed like a pretty fiddly way of doing it. I reckon I'd do exactly what you've done now that I've seen your pics.

Thanks Alan. I finished the tube work today and shimmed up the oil pump relief valve 3/16".
The plan from here is to finish building and assembling the engine and do a static test run with the lube system. I have a dummy distributor that has had the drive gear removed from the shaft. I use this distributor fitted in the engine and I drive it with a heavy slow speed electric drill. This serves the purpose of priming the engine before actually running it, as well as it will give me an idea if I will have any major pressure loss across the system from the all the tube work and filter. I'm still uncertain as to how it will go as there is no real way to tell how much oil the engine will flow without actually rotating crank/cam at the required speeds. I'm still working out the best option for oil filters regarding micron ratings, beta efficiency, flow rates, etc. I have managed to find a suitable filter that has an anti-drain back valve and anti-syphoning valve (suitable for a vertical filter). My basic thinking is that I'm filtering all the oil now as opposed to the old bypass system which is a huge improvement so I can be a little lenient with the micron rating. I wont go into my technical thinking as that side just wants to engineer the crap out of it.

I now just have to balance my filter restriction versus flow. At this stage 30 to 40 micron is the go with about 7-8 gpm flow rate. hopefully that will be ok.
Anyway I'm ranting, I'll post some results when its done......and pics of course!
