I am led to believe the Adelaide plant was busy assembling Vans for the EK's release, hence the high chassis number on the No-1 A Body.

Hurry up and find those photos TimSunnyTim wrote:Stygian, its the historical researcher in me, but I think it may be a little presumptuous stating all early cars were two tone grey. I'm suggesting that this is based on the only proof we have is this car and Tony Galea's No 4 being these colours so there is a bit of a leap there I'm afraidStygian wrote:True Peter, but I think Steve said to me that all the first EKs came out in the Cataract and Garrison grey colours. It was thought these made the black and white photos used in the media releases sharper. The Sydney #1 EK was crushed years ago apparently.(sorry Steve)
I have a pre-release colour photo that shows a Cameo Beige/Snowcrest White Hydramatic (which is probably thesame one as in the beach shots used around the same time by GMH), and another B&W with a run off the line with two or three single coloured cars with the first one looking to be a light colour with a dark top (possibly Steve's car)
I'll see if I can find the photos.
