Yeah Blacky, I was wondering if that bulsh!tting twit was still lurking around. If he is, at least he now knows what the REAL number 1 EK Holden looks like and who has it. He might even now try to at least get the colours right on his next dodgy scam car

Although it was a fake, I think that dude was claiming to have the No.1 Sydney car.........whilst this one is the Adelaide car.

Mine also has that odd heater knob. All this time I thought it was some dodgy knob the ex owner put on when the old one broke.

Steve/Mick/Tim,

I ended up with a "10c piece heater knob" like that one in my box of bits. I had a conversation with Smooth some time ago - his view at the time was that the "10c piece heater knob" option is an underdash cable pull to typically engine bay heater tap on earlier models like FE-FC.

I once had a photo of the FE-FC fresh-air heater (M32480, the one with the engine bay ducting), but lost it (I suspect that was the knob, but can't be certain  ).

Cheers,
Harv

Found the photo of the FE-FC fresh-air heater (M32480) - looks like the right knobs but resolution is pretty crap.

True Peter, but I think Steve said to me that all the first EKs came out in the Cataract and Garrison grey colours. It was thought these made the black and white photos used in the media releases sharper. The Sydney #1 EK was crushed years ago apparently.

Do they have a tiny grub screw in the centre of one of the flat sides ? They look very similar to the ones on my '64 Chev.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Its amazing to see a car of that age in all original, unrestored showroom condition.

This has to be a car in your collection that doesn't have a price tag! God knows I would never sell it.

Speaking of No.1's, do we know which No.1 car ( be it Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane), was actually the first one built.........or were they all built on the same day?

and would they actually be the very first ones built or just the first released to the public
i would assume both questions prolly near impossable to answer unless somebody that worked there is around

Melbourne was the first, the first 20 chassis no. were reserved for pre production cars all the other factories started 1001.
