Does anyone have any pictures of how and where they mounted the break away for the collapsible steering column? I had mine mounted but had to cut it back out to clear the light switch. Not much room underneath the dash.

I’ve got an LH Torana column. The original breakaway mount is a piece of plate that bolts to the column. I kept that, and trimmed it down a little. Two new bolts went up through the alloy breakaways, which are swaged into the plate. The bolts picked up the factory under-dash column holes... lucky LH Torana is just the right spacing. Engineer did not like the bolts sitting cockeyed (under the dash is rounded), so I made some small ally wedge washers to true it up.

In a smackcident, the bolts stay in the dash, as do the alloy breakaways. The column and steel plate move, tearing out the breakaways from the plate.

Cheers,
Harv

All good, I realised it was not going to fit above the column so mounted it underneath.ImageImage

My big issue is that my mate who is doing the wiring , engine and gbox is stuck in Mongolia. Just ticking off small jobs until he returns.

Still plugging away. Finally finished setting up the 4 speed auto column shift. Used a Lokar gearshift kit. Spun a mount that bolts through the fire wall to locate the cable near the steering column. Works nice a smooth without crap hanging off everywhere.

Also finished off the hand brake cable mounts, mounted the ECU and ran the air conditioner air vent hose.

Just ticking off little jobs but the list is getting smaller. Oh, I did pick up a second hand 90mm Hypertune throttle body for $140. They sell for $650 new.Image

You seem to be going to an awful lot of trouble for a bloody EK :P :P

The fiddly bits seem to take the longest time don't they , I always seem to be doing most of them at least twice before I am happy with them .....

You Only have to do them once on an EK as unlike an FB there is not much to improve on ImageImage

So, things are at a snails pace down here. But I did finally finish mounting the rear bar, now one piece and put some holes in for the heater outlets
