Is it better to leave them on? Or do some cutting? We where thinking just take the tail lights out ect and leave the rear panels on.

Much better, then just patch the rust. Unless you can get N.O.S. quarters don't cut them off they are part of the main body structure, they don't come off.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
Re: davo's ek wagon project pics up now

Re: davo's ek wagon project pics up now
when you say rear panels are you refering to the 1/4 panels or the tailgates, cause the tailgates come off
be very carefull with the rear side glass when removing it they don't make it anymore
i tried to push some out with my feet before and put my feet through the glass, so cut the rubbers

Re: davo's ek wagon project pics up now
hey man, good stuff, just a tip, take all ur stainless moulds/chrome work off before sanding, that way you wont bump into them
also, start on one panel at a time, finish that panel then move on to the next one.
have fun and wear a mask!

Re: davo's ek wagon project pics up now
if you're going to bare metal it's probably easier to just hit it with paint stripper before sanding or hitting it with a wire brush, worked quicker for me and doesn't gouge anything out - just be careful near the factory lead work ( the shop manual will show you where these bits are)
