The red motors come in 7 sizes, 138, 149, 161, 173, 179, 186 and 202, I would say the best motor for performance and strength is the "179 HP" .
That motor in the link could be a good cheep one that will get your car on the road, I usually get red motors for around $100 (nothing special about them) even been given them .
With regard to the diff, if you are going a red motor all you would need is a HR diff for strength, a much cheeper and easier option.

If I was you I would study up on your car stuff a bit more before you start, get your mind made up with what you really want and stick with it, thats where it can get expensive, changing you mind part way through , Trev .

Well i have decided to go with the 202 motor from ebay and the HR diff that trev said. With the 202 i would just modify it abit , like bigger carby,high flow air filter, quad spark plugs, upgraded bosch dizzy and coil pack and some vavle springs.

Putting a bigger carby on your engine doesn't make it go better, I was running 2 carbs on a standard red for about 3 years, changed to a singe carb and it went twice as good, I couldn't believe it .

You know allot about sound systems but you need to do a bit of studying when it comes to the old girls , Trev .

Could you reconmend any sites or books that would be helpfull ?

Also that red 202 motor will be ok with a freshen up?

This site is great, if you ask a question you might get 10 different opinions but all you have to do is read them all and make up your mind what sounds good to you.
There is plenty of people that get to the end of their project and wish they had of done something different.
You will not learn everything by reading it, it will come from experience, us old blokes are still learning from people that think outside the square and come up with new ideas, Trev .

however red motors are one of the most easily modified engines, everything and anything can be done from, single, double, triple carb, turbo, efi, supercharger..everything and anything from mild to wild..

you really need to make up your mind on what you want, these eninges are a dime a dozen, i got given 2 recently that are fine runners... vut eveyone has an opinion on what they are like and how the run best, i would say pick what you want and do you reseach because eveything has been tried and tested with these motors!

A red 6 is probably the easiest and cheapest conversion although I got offered a VN v6 and brain box for 2 slabs on Sunday . Keep your eyes open for a HR disc front etc on eBay and you'll get most of what's needed. You'll also need an EH sump and pickup to put the red motor in. Sumps are all different shapes but the EH one is the only one that fits. As for gearbox behind it, manual or auto? as you can get adaptors for 5 speeds and overdrive auto's easily enough or go standard holden stuff.. But unless you have an auto body you will need to fit a bigger trans tunnel.

Do a search on here as there are a few posts on whats needed for a red 6 conversion.

I would like to come along and hang out with you guys but im 16 and don't want to ruine your day out. But when i get the EK up and running i would love to come along on cruises and that.

I don't think your age would be a problem for them as long as you have the enthusiasm for these models that you seem to have , you''ll most likely be "in" I'd say.

i won the $*#@ red 202 motor on ebay whoot whoot. now all i need is a alt,starter,carby. What would people reconmend for a starter,alt and carby. But for a start i was thinking of getting one from repco along with carby. but i am open to all opionoins.

Firstly, Age doesn't matter. If your keen on a cruize let me know. Secondly, Starters are cheap at salisbury wreckers, as for carbie and inlet manifold, it depends on what you want out of the motor. I can set you up with a standard single stromberg and inlet to match with a standard single exhaust manifold. If you want to go holley, I can probably set you up with one of those as well. But if you have some coin, I have a triple weber manifold that needs the carbies and you'd want to do something with an exhaust. OH The possibilities.....
