Isnt it a bit premature putting the headliner in at this stage of the build ? Arent you still at weld/grind stage ??

I put the petrol tank back in a week or so ago because the welding is finished. It is early in the build for the headlining but I felt like doing something different. Still more bodywork, driveline, suspension and brake work to do. I'm not really one for doing stuff in any particular order unless it's necessary. Was thinking I might put the glass in sometime soon so I can get rid of the tarp

yeah true, I told myself it was a bit silly (a page back) ... but here we are

I've decided to make (keep) the tray rough and ready (and add some waterproofing) - started off temporarily blocking off the drain holes and, with the ute facing downhill, built up the area in front of the drains

put in the marine ply and did the same along the whole front


here's the first coat of waterproofing


a couple more coats

Spa in the back maybe?

they're pretty rare these days so I didn't think I'd end up with a second pair (have to start looking for something to put them on)

They were an after market accessory pre Early HQ. Pre kmh speedo when factory head restraints came in. Not my cuppa tea at all I’m sorry but then I’ve never had whiplash.

they were around in the 60s but there were a few different brands around - and I remember buying them new in the 70s

the ones I picked up a few months ago are different to the ones I just picked up. They all adjust up and down and can twist forward; but, do it in different ways (first ones by push buttons on the sides and second ones by 'twist to loosen' knobs)

I started putting them on cars after I got whiplash from someone reversing onto a road into my path (and yeah, they caught my head nicely one night when a drunk fella thought I was further away and pushed me through an intersection)
