Offending breather baffle now fixed. Another good test run and no oil dripping from the breather pipe.
Its funny how these after market mobs think that their shortcut cheaper versions are as good as what the manufacturer had already spent thousands on developing. Pays to be cautious with this stuff. Reminds me of all those alloy rocker covers for red/blue/black sixes out there with no baffle plate for the PCV valve. I couldn't count how many people I know that have complained about high oil consumption, blowing smoke, then ultimately pinging and running on and the resultant damage from that.

Anyway its now time to get these doors aligned a bit better.




Shitty little breather plate removed and casting cleaned up. New plate made and tig welded in place. Pretty well mimics the original.

Fish oiled inside doors, lined and sealed openings. Polished and fitted my last stainless trims thank %^&*
All door trims now on. Just have the kick panels to paint and fit. Anyone got ideas on what sort of paint would be suitable to use on the kickboard panel?????

Thanks for the heads up about the finned sideplate, I've looked at the Aussiespeed ones but wondered about the quality and how well they fit. I agree there's nothing worse than paying good money for a new part then have to modify it

Good on yah blister!! You turn up with this revelation when the works done! If had of known you both were coming I could have used yours and Rusty's cars for the wedding. Would have saved me a heap of work on mine.

Todays little update.

Got some colour matched paint to do the kickboards. Pretty happy with the results.
Todays milestone was giving the car its first wash. The car has turned out pretty well water tight with only a couple od spots letting a few drops in. Just need to sneak up the door strikers a bit.
Insurance done.
Exhaust for Jack Meyers Headers gets done next week.
Tomorrow wheel alignment is booked in.
Monday final touch ups cut/polish and prep for the wedding.
Looks like I'll have a couple of days spare!!!.......maybe
Time to kick back now the bulk of its done!

Its very close now and I'm pretty well spent. Its been 12 months since we decided to use it for the wedding and its been a real demanding job. My hat goes off to those that can do it in less time.
Special thanks goes to those that have supported me on the forum and especially to Russell and Wayne that helped me out with trim at the last minute (still waiting for the new trim from the states). The big tick goes to my wife to be that has put up with it all, fed me in the shed, driven everywhere chasing parts, and worked on the car side by side all the way. I love her to bits. Hope she's up for the EK ute next
We still have other work to go for the nationals but it should be nice and easy now with 6 months to fit that work in.
Anyway I spent an all nighter till 1am making the rest of my exhaust and fitting it. The exhaust place that I had booked to get the system made up for the headers couldn't fit me in on the day when I turned up. Don't know why I booked it in... So I'm still running the standard system till later. Another minor tune and brake adjustment done also. Todays mileage check comes up at 26mpg. I'm running a 58 main jet a the moment as the engine is breathing a little better mid range with the ported head. Cam is real nice, still good torque down low, good pull mid range, smooth idle, and no tappet noise! Definitely looking forward to the weber going on and the headers. I hoping with final jetting on the weber I might get close to 30mpg as the current Stromberg is a bit rich on the progression circuit with the larger main jet.
Anyway we look to have made the wedding deadline with 2 days spare. Just have to fit the ribbon tomorrow and we're all good for Friday.

We will post some good photo's of the cars on the day next week.
