Seems to have been a Melbourne thing to solder up the rivet holes on the body and tare plates. I've not seen this on Adelaide or Sydney cars.

2845M is pretty early for a ute - looks like late 61 to early 62 - i will send to Steve jackson and see if he can narrow it down but numbers all look about right timeline

I spent a bit more time with the wire brush under the car - gotta be a milestone right there...starting to see the finer detail

Fast delivery: geez, I only decided to go with this stuff on Wednesday evening and here it is.

For in-between the roof and headliner, I wanted something lightweight. Being a Ute, it's only a small space so I reckon I can do without the weight of anti-drumming products.

I've previously had problems with other products 'melting' (even in the box in the shed), so I don't want to take that chance up there

I stuck the insulation on the roof - plenty of time now before the headlining goes in - to make sure it doesn't sag. It's really sticky and lightweight so should be good. It took one sheet of 1200 x 900 x 6mm.

One front piece of 1200 x 520mm (with some tabs to go under the centre brace where they would fit)
...and one rear piece of 1200x 320mm (curved to 270mm) and then some off-cuts on the ends because the roof is a bit more than 1200mm.

I started at the centre-line (and got the tabs under the centre brace) and then worked towards the doors - I doubt you could re-position this particular product even if you tried immediately.

Cutting it into lots of small pieces would have been easier.

The tailgate was pretty beat up and had some previous putty patches cracking up

I took the old skin off and tidied the rest up a bit - nothing fancy, just tapped it into a 'better' shape
