It did cross my mind whether anybody had done it before...
GM engines into all number of cars is a given, but has anyone jammed a Holden red into a &*#@?? They're certainly easy to come by...
Surely if anybody has, you'd have shoehorned the trusty old Holden red into just about every possible body by now Ratbox??

Shit
From what you describe it sounds like a write off to me. I presume no one got hurt?...

Myself and the other driver were fine. My car came off much worse because of the guard rail she forced me into. Seatbelt held me in fine otherwise I may have faired worse.
Gotta admit, I'm damn glad it wasn't the EK. It's only days away from having the work finished on it and being driveable again, so easily could have been. After many many thousands of dollars and years of slow going process, that would have been plain cruel...
I'm not sure if the &*#@ will be re-built. To my eyes, the cost to do so would be far more than the payout for a write-off, but hey, who knows. It's just a waiting game now to see what happens.
On a side note, have to say that Shannon's have been helpful so far. They paid towing and storage last night, called me this morning to get full description of accident, asked for my preferred repairer and then arranged to have the car towed from storage to repair shop. The guys there will make a quote for repairs and a Shannons assessor will make their evaluation. Hopefuly I'll know by the end of the week what the outcome will be.
Cheers, Scott

Just got a call from Shannons. They've assessed the car and deemed it a repairable write-off. I've got salvage rights so get the car back, and they'll have a cheque out to me within 7 days.
Bummed to have had this happen as I really dug the car, but I think it's the best outcome.
Happy top report that much like my previous Shannon's experience, they've been very quick, professional and helpful.
Cheers, Scott

hhahha...talk about throwing a spanner in the works. We were planning on holding off from buying another car until our trip o/s next year. The EK conversion is slowly becoming a far more expensive job than first hoped (always the way isn't it??), and we need to save as much as we can for the trip.
But...the photos of the wagon look pretty good. If it's still there when the cheque comes through, I may just have a closer look. Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers, Scott
