I don't know about down there but in the NT

If they didn't come out from factory with them then you don't have to have them.

sayin that i have them in my ute as i can't do driving events/drag racing without them.

 Same in NSW.

You only have to wear a seatbelt if one was fitted from the factory and the car is still factory original or fitted with approved 138 red or 149 red motor.

However fitment of 161 reds and upwards require seatbelt installation.

8) pics maybe this week,,, the guy (engineer) said that the plate had to be a minimum of 3mm and I think greater than 65mm square, mine are 3.5 mmand 75mm square. I welded them on all 4 sides from underneath while it was on the rotisserie. It has now been painted etc and is sitting on its wheels. Like I said I will try to post some pics this week.
Keep up the good work.

Hey guys, the engineer who did the mod plate for me on the north side of brissy. If i remember rightly said that the minimum was 65mmx50mmx3mm carbon steel.i reckon a bit of 75x50x5 is ideal and with a good weld isnt goin anywhere. Finny talk to a bloke named Paul from Mustang sally,Google" mod plates" around here,he will point you in the right direction

Adrian, The guy I used for my Mod Plate. Had the seatbelt plates with him that cost $6 each, so I bought them from him and he wrote me up without having fitted them. I did have all the holes drilled for him to see. No problem.

Here are some pics of mine Stewart. The belts are from a VN commodore, just need to cut out the area for mounting and weld in a good size plate with nut tacked on the back. I used plates 50 x 100 on he inside. The inertia reels on the back require a sheild over the belt so the seat does not stop it from retracting. Hope it helps.
