Hey People!

Just giving everyone an update on the FB.

We've taken the front doors off, and the front gaurds. Just to have an in depth look over it. The subframe is excellent, no rust at all. This weekend the back doors will be taken off, and both cils under the front doors will be cut out and repaired, with the repair panels we have for it.

I've got some pics for everyone to take a look at.

Thats her from the front

Thats her from the Back lol (all underneath the house at the moment)

Thats a wheel

Thats a wheel after a very quick hit with the autosol and buff. (good as new)

lol

I'll keep everyone updated, with pictures as much as possible. It's always better to have pics lol.

Cheers

Hey People!

Well the old man and I did some work on the FB this weekend.

We've been Cutting rust and welding, griding all that jazz lol.

We didnt get a chance to finish because the Mig welder rang out of wire :? And there was no where close that was open, so we couldnt weld anymore, but she's coming along nicely. We're getting the back window cil schmick, so we're cutting out all the rust and welding in some home made repair panels.

It started when we took to it with a wire brush piece in a drill and just got into it, "brushing" off any rust from around the window cil then we got rust cutting :D lol

When cutting the rust out of the back end, It was nice to see the guy i brought it off... had just bogged the rust. Didn't cut the rust out just pushed the bog through the rust holes :? ... dodgy... lol So we decided it was best that we cut his "repair work" out and re-do it :P

If only the welder had more wire!!! :x

Oh well, I wont leave you guys trying to imagine what was happening, I've uploaded some pic's so you guys can take a gander at this weekends work :)

Cheers

Hi Rowan,

Keep up the good work. Your lucky you've got a good foreman - your old man.

How do those 15X7's fit in the guards? Are the guards big enough? Im not putting 15's on my wagon, just curious.

Hey Mate, they fit quite well under there, you could get a bigger wheel under there... you can off set the wheel centre so you can get a wider tyre under them. But with 15 x 7's it's a pretty snug fit

Good to see some one putting a V8 into an FB/EK

I'm going to be doing the same soon when I get a few other projects out of the way.

I will be keeping an eye on your progress.

HEY PEOPLE!!!

Bit of an update

Brought my 350 chev last week.

Its going to have a rebuild, got some alloy heads planned, barry grant 750** mighty demon carb. Shooting for the 500 Horses mark(or close enough to that)

The FB is pretty well the same, but in the very near future you'll get to see her back to bare metal 8). I'm going to sand blast in back, to ensure i get all the rust out of her. So you'll see her naked.

Anywho

I'll get a heap of pics happening.

Cheers

Have a good one!

** May be slightly bigger... not sure

HEY PEOPLE!

Well I know its been a while since i updated last, but I've just been doing some minor stuff inside the boot, inside the boot is the worst of the whole car, most of the rust and the crap bits are in the boot. We're working away and we've found some more dodgy stuff!!!! The supports that weld onto the back boot lip were all rusted out at the bottom, and some idiot has just fibreglassed it. Rust is like cancer if you dont get it all, it'll end up coming back. So if you're restoring a car, dont just bog the rust over, or anything else dodgy like that, the car will look good for a while, but before you know it, the paint will bubble where the rust is. It's better to take the time and remove the rust.

Anywho I've got some pics for you all.

Image

As you can see here... the dodgy fibre glass "repair" job, The bottom supports were all rusted out at the bottom.

Image

So we cut them both off with a grinder :)

Image

Then we re-welded them back in like this, there not welded back in how they used to be, because the support used to be welded to the lip of the boot. But in doing this we've added strength. We've fabricated it in such a way that it still maintains the right curves and shape undearneth as well as from the top. Havent quite finished welding yet, but the left side will get the same treatment as well.

Image

Also welded a plate into the fuel hole, where the fuel filler hose normally would stick out. Going to install a side fuel flap, that you open from inside the car, like all new cars. Round or rectangle, not sure yet...

But yeah got my 350 Chev, which is quite good. And I'm going for a loan to get the FB finished to my satisfaction. You'll see this project really start to take shape around late september.

Cheers
