i rang my sparkie today and he said yes there was a tiny reducer in pre asembled lights that allow volt irregularity of 9 to 36 volt

cool,it is always trivial tecnical stuff that makes you realise what humans have achived

but the ek dash in its original fit out with with the orange speed thing and green light glow is so more cool than my cooks camry altise, i cant work out why she wont trade it for a nice ek ute

she must be converted it will just take more time!!!!!

Thanks Karsten,
thanks for following up with your spark man........
I must admit I haven't seen a modified speedo or dash instruments at night yet so I'll reserve my opinion.
I will drop into my electronics supplier in a couple of days and ask what is available for the high beam hole - there may even be a multi function LED which will serve both a constant red for high beam, and also a flashing something for immobilizer - see what they have to offer.
Still thinking of adding some whites to the front for parkers and reds to the mudflaps for tails........... just playing with thoughts.......

i have fitted a led or many i should say rather that i got off my sparkie that are pre asembled ,and in my truck theres like five or six idiot lights down either side of my speedo / taco that warn indicators like ,oil pressure, air pressure, high beem, ect ect, they had normal bulbs and lenses with differant colours ,ie, green indicators, red sh#t im out of oil orange diff locks in ,,and so on ,,the new led ones went strait in the old hole which is the same size as most common toggle switches with one led behind a lens with nice chrome beval and a nut from the back that holds it in the hole and two blade conectors and in various colours ,think they where 5 bucks but they look very tidy , hiway truck acessories ,in syd bris and melb also carry heaps of chrome nut covers and lights and pimp your truck kind of stuff but they make quite small ones nut covers that really pretty up bolt heads and they are like 50 cents to a dollar each worth having a look at if you are in passing of one and yes my truck has chrome nut covers all over it youve got to look cool

even when youre workin

1. where is this highbeam indicator...
2. what is the difference in the end result of doing all this stuff...
is it because its brighter, durabilty or a cleaner look...
3. does some one have before & afters to show me if its all worth it...
welcome back rosco

are yeah im still to figure the photo part ,sorry matty, but yes they are much brighter in my truck and they do look better than before ,old plastic ones wherent so cool, but i must add my truck is a 31 year old so the old ones had some age. Although my missus is older and ive still got here mmm!! i wonder?...but these little ones mite be ok for what rosco was saying about front and rear of car to add a bit of light to the matter, god ihavent drove my car at night for 3 or 4 years but 1 led would be better than the old head lights which i could drive on high beem always and never got flash back from other cars

Hi Matty,
if you are asking of the high beam indicator in our speedo - it's the little black (and I can only assume your's isn't working) dot in between the 50 and 60.
It is bulb operated and is connected from the high beam wire (light green) from the dip switch.
My suggestion was to replace the globe and holder then fit an LED into the hole behind the speedo gauge perspex cover.
The intention was to provide a multi-purpose indication for both high beam and immobilizer/alarm.......... still working on that, but anyone watching - just about there.
frats,
Rosco
ps Karsten, what is your 31 yo truck, I'm very keen to learn.

Just managed to learn how to place pix in a post................
Original article in this post now contains four pix.
Also for anyone watching, have made enquiries into utilising the high beam indicator with an LED - I have yet to collect the LED.
Apparently I can purchase a combination steady and flashing LED to fulfill my requirement - however, change of plan - cannot get both red steady and red flashing - will opt for steady red and flashing white, blue or yellow - yet to approach sales - watch this space - project will now incorporate pix.
