I dropped the sedan off the frame today as I was over trying to mig weld up in the rear guards.
I need a little more space to give the tyres a bees tit more clearance. I must have banged my head 5 or 6 times trying to see where I was welding. Now on it side so much easier Now I can see that my earlier welding was less than poor, like some backyarder did it. I will grind out and re-weld.
Also will be able to weld in the tunnel.

Bloody back yarders. Thank god our generation has back yards at least. Most of the younguns are lucky to be able to afford a block big enough, and too busy working to pay the huge mortgage required.
Re the wheel wells, just turn the schutz gun up to 11 and she’ll be right.

Hey Roger - would love to see some closer pics of what you are doing there in the wheel well. Are you recessing the inner skin on the outer side of the wheel well?

This is the area that I'm changing. The inner guard on the outside if that makes any sense.
This should allow me to run the 17" rims with 235 tyre up into the guard.

Met with Scot the engineer, on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the sedan build.
All the stuff that I need to do is fairly straight forward and he will prepare the paper work to lodge with Transport SA.
He quizzed me on the wheel size and offset and the what steering I would be using. Suggest front mount rack to avoid issues with bump steer.
We also discussed the shortening of the Commodore diff but more in relation to strength of the axles and possible power in the 450 range.
No issue having a triangulated 4 link rear, other than having enough space for exhaust pipes.
Good news is I can do just about anything I wanted to do, including twin turbos. I had Blacky here as backup which helped as he had as many questions as I did.
Based on SA regs,Balck maybe rego-ing his cars here, as WA is fairly restrictive on mods.
I can get into this build before the ute comes home from paint.

SA regs are definitely way easier to work to than WA - the rattler with a supercharged 202 is JUST under the limit over here, and if you go V8 naturally aspirated the limit - depending on who you talk to - is 327

Neil wait a couple of minutes and it will pass.
Purchased the Twin turbo kit back in 2010 when we were dollar for dollar with the US for the sedan project but Ammo's ute got in the way.
During the visit from the engineer, we agreed that there is not enough room in the engine bay so I may need to mount these towards the back of the car.
This will mean more pipe work but I think it is doable. There is room under the rear set area that I could use.
I did intent to cut out the inner guard then add a bar to support the guards but the engineer told me I would need to discuss cutting out the body ID and relocate it, somewhere else with Transport SA.

NSW can be no better, depending on the engineer. 341.5ci for a NA V8 was all I could calculate my way into. The 40-thou over 327 in the wagon goes 333ci. Interestingly, I was offered any capacity I wanted provided I passed a beam test. Visions of Merlins danced in my head until I was quoted $4k for the beam test, and couldn’t find anyone at the time who had passed on in an EK. I chickened out.
I dream of twin hairdryers. Might need antilag if they are mounted that far back, though it sounds horrible when used.

Mate I’m a bit surprised that you’re engineer would want a front mounted rack, did he have any suggestion as to what rack you should use, as you know I’ve used rear mounted modified VB ( I think ) manual racks twice and there is a guy over here that modifies the HR cross member so you can use a standard sump ( my front mounted V6 anyway ) and he uses a standard commodore power steering rack rear mounted, I’m going to do this for the wagon cause Robyn wants to be able to drive it.
