wasn't sujesting any of that just asking as like i said in the pics (things can vary considerably when seen in person) it looks the same colour and also same colour trim, the other one had same but different wheels 17" showwheels, no visor, no scratch plates and don't think it had side chrome and pretty sure it had a bench seat

Thanks for the comment Mick, unfortunately it failed the brake test today. You can't combine VY front brakes with VN rear brakes. Front works too good with the twin cylinders and the back hardly works at all, only registered 18% . Needed at least 25% to pass, so back to the drawing board. Obviously bigger is not better. Everything else passed with flying colours so another trip is needed
They certainly know how to charge up there, Exhaust emmission test took 5 minutes =$75.00 Brake test took 1hr 20min = $400 and the list will go on.
Will keep posting. Graham
If you were to run a proportioning valve that would fix your drama wouldn't it?
Btw I love your car looks sweet,
Mind me asking a few questions?
Hope not
What pedal box/booster/master are you running?
This is the car mick was referring too, I had someone look at it for me as I was thinking of buying it, wasn't as good as the pics showed!
wanker????
I'd rather consider myself as an "owner operator"!!
G'day Bumper and FBing, in answer to your questions.
I used the original pedal box and relocated the brake to the clutch side with a modified pedal from my VY donar car. Used a VN booster and master as per V6 conversions recomendation. They supplied the mounting bracket.
FBing. Am running 185 x 65 x 15 on 6in dragways with commodore stud pattern. this gives plenty of clearance on the rear and no problems with the steer and turn circle.
do you have to pay for the brake test again? the local engineers to me charge every time they do the brake test @ $500 a shot fail or pass luckily I can travel a bit further to other engineers that only charge once also one of the engineers local to me was saying he's had to knock back cars that have failed the test that have all the right stuff big and fancy brakes yet have failed because it's all brand new and not bedded in and fails that would suck

I am useing hz holden all round with boosted front proportioning valve and was told by engineer ( Athol )that it wouldn't need brake test as it a proven set up.

MY Father always said do the hard part first --because when you are OVER IT you only have the easy part left to do THINGS I HAVE TRIED TO LIVE BY
Yep apparently its up to the engineer's discression like billy's engineer said if its a tried and proven
set up all matching brakes / booster eg hq hz commodore matching you wont need a test as they go off
allready attained data apparently
although depends on the engineer he may still want one done so probably ask your enginners guys if he will need a brake test
with what ever brakes your using or does the tried and tested clause apply to your set up
G,day all. What size is the vn master cylinder is it 15/16 or 1inch.If you are using the 15/16 master on the twin spot calipers they might be taking all the brake pressure and you have not got enough pressure to operate the rear and you may need the 1inch master to give the same pressure all round. But i could be wrong.I am using vt booster and master which is a 1inch ve front calipers which have twin piston which are small and vn rear.I hope i dont have the same problem as you.cheers Gazza
Hey Bumper, I gave you the wrong info on the booster and master. I should have said VC V8 master and booster.
Today we changed to VS stubbs roters and calipers, and hopefully fix the problem.
When going for engineering it's best to have a proven combination as Jay said.
The engineer said the same thing. As soon as we mentioned the mix n match set up, he insisted on the brake test, mainly to cover HIS arse. This bloke takes pics of all the mods on the car and any other things that seem to be modified. That way if you change anything after it has been passed it all comes back to you, not him.
Don't lie to them about what you have done, be upfront and you wont get caught out, they hate being lied to. We got this info from a bloke that was booked in before us and said DON'T argue with him.Remember the old saying, Rule No1-- The boss is always right, Rule No 2--- If the boss is wrong, refer rule No 1
Hope this will help you guys later on. cheers Graham
G'day Mick, to answer you question, yes, I will have to pay for a second brake test. He said he went easy on me for the first one ,knowing that I have to come back for a second one
If I knew of another one close by I'd go there next time. Have to make some enquiries.
thanks, that sucks and one of the downfalls with the new engineers, it was sposed to be a better system but it's more all over the place with what seems like absolutely no consistency now

Well, if we want to modify our cars Mick, we'll have to play their little games.
I think this bloke in Ballina is IN with these other blokes(he gave me their numbers) and they believe that we will pay whatever, just to have the vehicles passed.
