We all know an engine runs best when the air/fuel charge is cool and dense. also cooler air means more fuel remains a liquid until its lit up just before top dead centre.
That considered, your best chance of getting cooler air is during the night, ideally around 2am. This will also serve as a courtesy call to the neighbours that you are back to enjoying your hobby. :)

My memory is going (or dissolving in alcohol :lol: )... didn't someone post a while back about painting panels and finishing the job - only to have the chickens attracted to the shiny paint and peck the wet panels?

I checked for feathers around the motor and in the shed on foresenic evidence ....questioned each and every chook threatened them with a FBA ...not guilty they maintained .....so no answers as to why yet but still sniffing around .Image
anyway got it all back together fired it up .....let out 1 almighty f**king bang .. :esurprised: ..jumped up hit my head on the overhanging engine crane ....crapped myself and thought it was the neighbour doing a drive by with a shotty ....oops ...got the timing 180 degs out ...pulled the dizzie out reinserted 180 degs around and up she fired ...........run it for 30 seconds and shut it down .. 8) ..needs a tune badly but all is well....much relieved .....Fingers

Hey Fingers - what was the piston brand ? The one with embedded nut has it's own story.

As for the other two pistons I suspect something fowl :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hey Dave ............the pistons were from Nason a divison of H Engines ....3" and 3/16" pistons, rings and gudgeons around $280.00 from memory ...Fingers

i can annoy my neighbours now :) the 179 in the austin is a runner :D only problem is one neighbour is about 70 meters away and the other that is close said all i could do to annoy him would be sh!t in my hand and throw it at him :shock: :lol:

You have to be accurate with the shit throwing, you only get one shot a day at the most :) .
