Been fiddling around with the ute and fitted some LED running lights. Got these off eBay as they appeared to be small enough to fit in the grille. It was a little tight but managed to get them in. Pics show the end result. They are super bright and cost around $25 for the pair incl postage. Any way thought they might be of interest.

Stephen

Hello Guys & Girls,
Got the ute out the other day and put my bike in the back (1950 AJS 500cc) and went off to an aged care facility where they have a Men's Shed to give a show & tell. Had a cuppa with the guys and gave them a run down on my bike along with a few period accessories I have collected over the years. They enjoyed it and had plenty of questions for me as some of them rode motorcycles in their day. A good way to spend a few hours.
A couple pics as I returned to work.
After using a stick to hold up my bonnet for the past however many years due to aged springs I purchased a couple of pair of those bonnet springs off eBay. Caught up with a mate whose ute suffers from the same problem and we did a changeover. No dramas now, the new springs are brilliant. Oh yeh.......Fixed one problem and found another, the generator light glows a lovely shade of red after giving it a few revs! maybe when I get the spanners out to fix that I might find the Holden letters for the bonnet that I've had for 3yrs safely stored away. If only I remembered where I put them?
Regards
Stephen

Good one Stephen , I bet the old blokes got real good kick out of that just as you would have !
I think because we are around older vehicles all the time , we tend to take them for granted . As in the fact we see lots of them on regular basis . Where as most folk would only see them once in a blue moon depending on chance and for the older folk it would be a real treat and a trip down memory lane .
I take my hat off to you , or as Rosco would say " I dips me lid to yu "

Nice original look Stephen. I like those after market trim rings. Can't see any holes in your bonnet for the letters. No letters kind of goes with the no frills commercial look (painted light surrounds etc). Have you got a tailgate script on there?

Thanks Kelleigh54,
Yes I enjoyed the opportunity to bring some interest to their day and hearing some of their stories.
Clay,
The holes in the bonnet have been filled as the previous owner removed all the badges and painted all the chrome. I have been progressively bringing it back to the factory look with a few exceptions here and there. I have not got the badge on the tailgate yet but plan on fitting one soon.

Stephen

Greetings,
Well after many late nights the boffins from the R & D branch of "In The Shed" have finally delivered something worthy. My ute did not have the elusive badge for the tail gate so I, err I mean the R & D team set about making one. The below is a picture of their results. Can you pick the imposter?

Stephen

If you have an original you want to sell I would be interested for sure
Utes looking great by the way - can't wait to get back in mine - wont make Nationals unfortunately as even if it gets back together I need to put some miles on the motor before any long runs.
