Like Andrew said though, with cars like this one the onus is on the owner to prove it's authenticity.

The "Don Loffler" books are good read Cal

To enlighten you .... The first three prototypes were fully built complete cars shipped from the USA.

The proposed Prototype 2 tag has an "Australian Made" Tag with what appears to be a shave or smear over where perhaps Holden LTD was!!!

If the tag was shonked up,as it appears to have been, whos to say it wasnt removed by the previous owner or even GMH for a legitamite reason, and then lost and replaced?

He states that the car was resprayed. It could have gone astray then.

Use your imagination, fellas, there are heaps of reasonable explanations for its removal.

This car would have been worth 4/5ths of bugger all in the fiftys ,and to replace a lost or damaged tag may not have seemed the heinous crime that it does today.

It doesnt matter if the owner is an uncooperative bastard, the car shouldnt be slandered on open forums repeatedly until the reality of the situation is known.

The truth will undoubtably come to light some time in the future.

Hammering away at the bloke will be no help to anyone.

Yep, I know the history of the first 3 prototypes and where they came from.

There are other things sus about the tag. The font of the numbers is different when compared to the others ..

I suppose the onus is on this guy to prove why it has an Australian tag. I get the impression he'll have a hard time explaining it.

Like Wot said, let's wait and see. In the meantime I don't think anyone will be forking over 1.2 million for a car that doesn't have iron clad provenance

A way of authenticating would be to compare the panel manufacture to the hand made panels of the first prototype restored by the Strongmans. If there are unambiguous similarities then that would be a highly accurate way of identifying the car independent of written documentation, provenance and the dodgy Aussie tag.

I'm with Mick and Craig... I don't care, it's JP's car and he can say that the aliens gave it to him if wants to... but if he wants to sell it for serious cash, then serious questions can be legitimately raised about it. Unless they can be answered then doubts linger.

I wasn't having a go at Steve's EK Prem either...I would imagine he understands the point I made.

i like that i think i'll steal it  my 2 door will now become an early GTR prototype :D
one night there was a bright light in the padocks outside, when i went out to investigate there was a humming coming from the sky, as i stepped out from the verandah there was an intense light and what i can only describe as a mild electrical shock, and next thing i was in a room simular to a dental surgery but the chair i was strapped to i was facing the wrong way around with my rear end tillted up and out, i don't like talking about what happened next  but we've all heard the stories of anal probes  :( surprisingly it's not as bad as you would think   but it's the stigma that surrounds it you know  anyway once all this was done and they'de also taken bodily fluid, flesh, hair and skin samples they began to communicate with me (surprisingly friendly they were) stateing that they once in 1960 they took a fellow from a factory with some sort of earthling transport pod test grounds and in his disscussions with them he told them of a car they were in the process of developing, a GTR and they told me it was the same shape transport pod (car) they had seen many times in my yard but had 2 entry ports (doors) not 4 like the ones i had, i said no they never made a 2 door version, but they said they had the transport pod and showed it to me they said the guy told them to take it as it was to far advanced to be released 8) they had no need for it and seeing as i had an interest in that type of transport pod and i was such an excellent specimen that i could have it
and that's the storey of how i came to own an EK 2 door GTR prototype 8) :)

If someone pays over 1 mill for any car they deserve what they get, a genuine prototype or ripped off for having too much money   .

You'll have to call the two door the "Mothership".
It'll HAVE to be '70s theme now - chromies, flake, triple Stromberg red motor, 8 track player with "P-Funk" in the deck...the vocalist for P-Funk used to land on the stage in a UFO, bringing the funk from the mothership to the people...

do you have pay TV ? there's some interesting american auction shows and some    prices paid just this morning a cobra race car on one show sold for 7.25 million on top of that add the fees aswell  atleast this was a true collecta car but still that is rediculous

on the FX time will tell there are nuttbags out there with this sort of coin to fork over on a car like this, but no matter how crazy we think they are there would be some serious research done on the car before a cent is handed over, i don't think they'll just deposit the money in his bank and send a truck to pick it up

There's another show called Mecum Auto Auctions where there are some absolute bargains to be had. The high end stuff stil commands top dollar, but you can buy a "fully restored" Mustang that's had some serious coin spent on it for around 20 grand

On that Chasing Classic Cars show they hand over some serious coin for cars. One guy paid almost 1 million bucks for what was essentially a Ferrari shell. Still, we're talking Ferrari here, not a farking FX Holden

 ... and here ladies and gentlemen we have the Reubens inspired nude called "Ratbox Gets an Anal Probe" by the early 21st century illustrator known only by the pseudonym "Sputzwagon"...
