For now, she's got plenty of go, and after a 20 minute self- tuning session with the laptop on the way to the EPA test, she runs flawlessly.
Anyhow, got a second VASS certificate. Funny, not as exciting as the first time, but nonetheless a big step. I'm fortunate to have a good engineer. So it's a roady next week and back to vicroads. The whole engine checking mistake cost me three weeks and about a grand. Hopefully I'll have her on the road before cup weekend.
Meanwhile, I can wait patiently to see how long before I get an answer regarding the fate of the stolen motor. It will be interesting to see how long it takes.
G'day Richard, good to hear it's running well for you. It always ran very smooth for me and was quite torquey on LPG.
Glad you stuck to your guns and stayed with the project. It's good inspiration for others!!
The RWC bloke explained that the certificate process now involves photographs which are date stamped. They photograph the engine number, chassis number, brakes, speedo, and a bunch of other stuff. This is to stamp out the old "dodgy" roadworthy. He did say that he will need the car for a couple if hours so he can take a fresh set of pictures. Two hours, time is money and all that I suppose.

That makes sense, was wondering why you'd have to get another roady

The guy at vicroads was a bit of a Holden nut. He asked all sorts of technical questions about the motor, EFI, brakes, etc. he seemed well impressed. When we went back in for the plates, he asked if I wanted 060 or 061. Nice bloke. In fact, I must say that vicroads were a great help to me regarding the whole stolen engine snafu. I know we like to bag on government departments and all that, but these guys were great.
As for the smile Ross, yes, in fact my face hurt from so much smiling. I'll have to give you a drive some time soon.
You'll have to bring it down to Mallacoota if you want to show it to me, Richard.... caravan club national muster (bit like the nats without vehicles to put on display).
