Fenderwell headers and brake lines

Post by Harv »

Have recently had the EK wagon returned from the brake shop, where it got new steel brake lines installed. Can't say I'm impressed with the job at all - crap workmanship from guys who should know better (lines rubbing, poor routing etc). I know I should take it back and demand they redo it, but to be honest it will be a lot less grief to fix most (if not all) the issues myself.

The wagon has a HR frontend modified by CRS, and is running CRS spindles modified to take Commodore bearings (VN/VP disks up front). The wagon also has CRS fenderwell headers (extractors which pass through the inner guards). I am not happy as the rubber front brake hoses fitted can be pushed onto the extractors (if I can see that, why couldn't the brake shop?). Looking for some pictures please of anyone with the CRS front-end and disks as to how they routed the rubber hoses/steel lines to avoid contact.

Had a similar problem with mine (stock front end). Took it to a brake shop to get new front hoses, as the old ones were rubbing.

For some odd reason they used the same route with the new hoses.

You guessed it................still rubbing on the tyres.

Thanks Theo. I had heard of "the spring thingie", but was not sure what cars they had originally came on. Anybody got any idea?

Thanks Theo - very much appreciated. :D You just saved me several hours of grief wrestling with brake hoses and hard lines.
