I don't want to go into detail on an open forum, but these people have not made many friends in the FX FJ movement.

If this car is what they say it is - we would welcome it with open arms, just like we have with the number 1 prototype JP480.

All I will say is reader beware and don't always believe what you read on the net.

I'm a complete ignoramus about FJs and 48s, but what car did Gavin Strongman (I think that was his name) restore? I remember it being called "Number 1 Holden" or something similar years ago now...

Gavin restored the number 1 prototype registered JP 480. This was one of the prototypes built in the USA.

Have a look on my website here http://www.fxfjholden.com/number1.htm for some information on it.

Thanks fxfj... I remember meeting Gavin at the 2001 FB EK Nationals in Taree... quite a nice bloke... I think he bought a one owner EK Special and decided to restore it to concourse condition and it looked amazing...

Thanks FXFJ - you'd certainly know a lot more than I.....
My post was to entice...... sadly, this has not happened.

Don Loffler is a terrific bloke - I purchased my copy of his latest book, and he took the effort to write a personal note in it.
Anyone who offended him would certainly be on my "hit" list........

Yes, Gavin did do that wonderful No. 1 vehicle - and it was he who told me of the differences... I believe it has been sold twice since they owned it and I'm pretty confident I know where it is now...... LF...

The EK special is now owned by one of the committee in the Vic FB/EK club... beautiful machine... I'm pretty confident Gavin and his father restored that vehicle....

Sorry if I have offended you with my previous post.....

I may have given the impression I was questioning your position....

Humble apologies, if this has occurred....

Not at all Rosco, my site is like this, just different model focused.

You werent questioning my position, cause I dont have one.

I'm no expert, I am learning everyday. Learning more about my EK then I ever knew.

Just frustrates the hell out of me that people go onto forums like this (and mine) make nonsense comments and then leave.

If they want to do that go to Old Holden.

He has made his presence felt on many other Forums.
FX/FJ
Old Holden
Early Holden
and every time he has straight forward questions fired at him, he then mentions he's car is now in storage or he can't post links....................only to vanish in thin air.

Attention seeker in my book. IMHO

Or maybe he could actually be hanging onto the Real McCoy, and is waiting for eveyone's response, and or keeping them in suspense.

There's something not right here....
I was always taught to be cautious - if the checksum doesn't co-relate, some of the criteria should be reviewed..

If doubt exists, in some people's minds - it's a better proposition to have people believe rather than remove all doubt.....

To claim credit and deny verification access - does little for either perspective...

Be careful with this one - never know what may be "waiting for opportunity"...

This will be my last post on this thread....

"spend enough time arguing with a fool - and soon, no-one will pick the difference"..... I've got better things to do than challenge "ghosts".....

frats,
Rosco

ps - John - that term "Real McCoy"... it comes from a lubricator on a steam locomotive.....

It all seems a little bizarre to me if what I'm reading is correct :? :? :? .Why spruik about a car that is supposed to be a whatever blah, blah, blah and then allegedly not let experts in the field of authentication see it to confirm the statements made??

It is also bizarre to me that some apparently people seem hell bent on basking in the glory of having something that may be/may not be as it seems??

Attention seekers as John has said seems to be the answer :? :? :?

Bit like someone marching on Anzac day with medals they falsly ( and knowingly ) claim to have had presented to them for military service.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Sounds like "I've got something really special but you can't see it" crap to me. Childish sort of stuff as far as I am concerned!

If it can't be seen it doesn't exist - simplistic I know, but that is my view.

At the end of the day what is so mystical about this 'non existent' car.

SHOW PICS AND PROOF OR GET OFF HERE. THIS IS AFTER ALL A FORUM FOR FB AND EK OWNERS OR THOSE INTERESTED SPECIFICALLY IN THEM - FX and FJ ARE CATERED FOR ELSEWHERE

We all know what the euphemism is for No 2's - SHIT, LOL!!!

Now take your rare gem and shove it - I'm not interested. I'd rather see the old 48-215 my parents owned until 1964, brought me home as a baby etc etc !!!
