does anyone know if the "presslite" spindle head can be replaced... or do you need to replace the whole arm ?

Hi Stu - yes the heads are repalceable - but from where I don't know.... perhaps Rares... or some kind forum member has a box full of spares......

When you come to fitting the replacement, it is usual to fit the head to the shaft - you will most likely have to "back" the pivot shaft from inside the cabin....

You can fit the head into the arm, then fit it to the shaft..... this would be necessary if you are forced to "marry" the head into the arm..... again, back the pivot shaft.

There a less spindles on the inner spine - if you fit the head into the arm first - make sure you "match" it so that it positions the arm where required...

Glad to hear you got them....

Rares will end up doing these - I'm pretty confident....

At a meeting they held for the Vic club, they told us they would "tool up" for items which keep vehicles on the road, and although would cost them serious "coupons" - we, ultimately pay for their goodwill...... I expect these "items" will eventually be necessary.......

I don't believe for one moment that those fitted to ours would be "special".... I'm sure the same spindle heads would have been fitted to other makes/models...... presslite would not have tooled up just for our old buses.... but what else fits, I'm sorry - I don't know.... and it's probably too long ago now for Presslite to be able to tell us.......

Modern vehicles use the bolt/nut fitting - guess this is part of the aura of owning one of our relics......?
