Replacing chassis rails

Post by toadstool »

I'm planning to have a look at an EK ute that is for sale and I''m told that there is rust in the rear chassis rails and they need replacing. The ute comes with the spare rails to replace the old ones. Can anyone tell me what the process is for removing and replacing the rear chassis rails and whether or not this is a straight forward job for an amatuer backyard mechanic?

would be a pretty major job to replace the rails - depending on how much of them needed doing.
A rotissorie would be real handy for a job like this.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

If they need replacing then you might aswell put them closer together so you can fit 15x10 rims and 295 tyres under the back
