Custom FJ

Post by Sunny Rob »

Here is a series of photos of an FJ custom.
The car belonged to an uncle of a friend of mine, Ray Knight.
Rays dad owned the bodgie mobile Vauxhall in the background.
The story go's the car was crashed to get the insurance money to
do the custom work.

Note the canted rear fins in the in progress photos compared to the
finished ones.

Check out all the bolt on accessories. I quite like the Austin park lights in the tops of the guards.
I actually posted these pics in Newsledder magazine years ago.
Enjoy.

I kinda dig the slanted fins but hey, Im strange like that
Id have it either way tho. (the car that is) maybe the builder was going through a post bodgie / neo mod deal with all the mirrors.

Mick

That Convert was originally built by Brian Horne, starting with a rolled FX in 1960. And he still ownes it today.
Dale Fisher made a set of his signature spats for it in the mid 60's.

A well built car that has stood the test of time, and hundreds of thousands of miles as an every day driver. And towed a caravan for many years on family holidays.

mick you have a welder and can weld and do bodywork yor 3/4 there it's not that hard depending on how much of a finish you want, even then i notice the rear windows on the FJ unbolt not wind up/down that makes that part easier if you want them that is
