Ignition timimg marks

Post by hammondo »

I was going to put some marks on the balancer of the grey motor while I have it at TDC. whats the best spot for future tuning? 10 degrees before TDC?

Cheers
Greg

If you are having trouble seeing the steel ball on the flywheel with the timing light dab some white paint on it.

If you want some timing advance move the steel ball until you can just see it on the left of the timing aperture, that will probaly give it about 4 or 5 degrees more advance timing than standard but like Tim said, too much advance and it will ping under load.

Use premium fuel and there will be less chance of pinging.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.
