There are heaps of conversion options for 5 speeds.
Celica, Supra and Sigma(?) kits would be available from Castlemaine Rod Shop and Dellow Automotive (Syd?).

There is also the Commodore 5 speed box which was fitted to Red/Black motors and would be OK if you are not going to thrash the car.

The cheaper option is the Commodore box or keep an eye on the trading post and Just Parts magazines.

Yo..

I know that Commy 5 speeds arent as strong as Celica boxes but i sorta like the idea of everything being HOLDEN and a more or less bolt up fit to a red or grey motor.

So i bought a box, shifter, tailshaft, clutch, pressure plate, pedal box out of a VK last weekend at Clarendon swap meet.. $180.

Question:
The box came with the( mechanical ) clutch cable which pulls the clutch fork forward. has anyone converted these gizzmos to Hydraulics.??
Or
Is there a bolt up kit with slave cylinder that "Pushes " the clutch fork forward .

It appears that this would be an easier conversion than setting up the cable effort with cantilever clutch pedal in an FB/EK.

I realise it would be a bung fight if i run it behind the existing grey motor due to the rear engine mounts. i am almost cert i am going to convert over to a red of some size .. so info/ part numbers/ bracket templates etc, etc... on Hydraulic clutch slave brackets and what slave cylinder you used would be much appreciated.

Also Scored a good HR disc front end with FB/EK outrigger and red engine mounts already set up at the rear of the cross member .. as well as 2 spare rotors and 2 spare calipers as well.

ended up breaking even. i spent every cent of what i made at the swap on the cross member and 5 speed.
Happy with the front end as i am a hopeless welder and buying it as a bolt up fit has saved me heaps of time, money .. and effort..... 8)

i'm not sure if there are any options around to make the commodore clutch hydraulic...

i was looking at putting a T5 into a EH behind a V6 and was planning to use the cable setup, it doesn't look like it will be TOO hard to adapt the commodore pedal box to it which will then allow the cable to work perfectly ... but thats about as far as i ever got with it.

as far as the celica box goes, its a great conversion, i did about 150,000kms in my EK with one and it is a pleassure to shift etc... i had a dellow bellhousing with hydraulic setup .... i still have all the bits and pieces and two celica 5 speeds in pieces and are actually not in working order .... i probably should sell them one day!
Regards,

Sammy.
