Thanks guys, what makes it even better is we took it down to show the couple we bought it of 3.5 years ago and they were blown away with what I had done to her dads car. Said he'd be proud (he actually worked for Repco all his life, so was a fanatic about the car). Makes it all worthwile.
Oh yeah and met (but forgot to get a name) a fellow forum member who has been watching the build. Who was that man hiding under the umbrella?!
By the way this was what I started with.....

Hey Deryck if it hadn't been raining and the kids weren't so antsy it would have been good to have a look at your car. Hope you sort out how to post pics as Nekro said its easy!
And you're right about how helpful this forum is...
Later,
Brett

Perfect 'looking' kustom
DR,
Have to say it again, but your EK is in my opinion one of the most perfect ‘looking’ customs there is and a real inspiration!
Back when I just started getting into old cars when I was around 15 (now 21) I wanted a LJ Torana for my first car, plans for a 202/186 triple carbs, 5 speed supra, monster tacho & 9” diff not that I ever got close to finishing it, I learnt my lesson there trying to build a car with bugger all money and no real idea of what I was doing! I then came across Streetneats gold then blue FC Kustom, running Holden 6 on gas, with the EH over riders - toothy grille, and I couldn’t get that out of my mind, thinking maybe an older Holden (older than LJ) would be the way to go, I then cam across this website & do months of research, and found an FB Special with a ‘chevised’ bonnet thinking couple more touches and ‘toothy’ grille would look sweet!, noticed your avatar with the grille, asked a few q’s came across the Rat Ute in the gallery (black with flames) simple but effective looking grille, thinking that’s the way to go with a bit of black hidden mesh behind to stop crap getting into the engine bay, so there I was thinking FB, chevy bonnet, toothy grille would look unreal – thinking I was really getting into the ways of old mild kustomising, I since came across a 57 chev over here in the west (plates 57heven) white body, redish/purple roof, and though that would suit my FB beautifully (with some commercial spears)!
Edit: Forgot to add, that matching roof and steelies were a must, but i prefer with trim ring & baby moons with a thick white walls, i also reckon blinds in the back window, you got the kustom dash and mexican blankets, now all you need is some pin stripping - boot & bonnet!
So basically my story so far ends with me not knowing whether to hate you or not – but basically I love your EK, you’ve captured the epitome of a perfect ‘looking’ kustom (I like to have an odd driveline & fully safety upgrades and some creature comforts as well)
So well done, can’t wait to see it finished you really make me wish my was finished!
Cheers

Hardest part of the whole build was sticking to my original vision. I had a pretty good idea of exactly how I wanted it too look and stuck to it. Hopefully I'll get the striping done soon, but not too much. I'm really digging on the whole simplicity of it all, the KISS principle. Keep it Simple Stupid! This car turned out heaps better than my last EK!
