J, you were getting the job done for virtually free , and you are whining its taking a bit longer than it should ??? You need to understand that regular customers take priority over a job thats being done as a favour and also that running a business costs money and that money has to be made to keep the doors open BEFORE freebies can be done.
I dont know how long you have spent in the workshop in question , but maybe if you got your arse up there and helped out - even if its not by working on your car , you could clean up the workshop or whatever needs doing so he gets his paying jobs outa the way so he can get to yours faster - good way to learn stuff too.

Another word of advice - best not to slag off a mate of mine on an open forum
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I was paying Dave, it wasnt for free, I was whining because he kept telling me itd be done by this date. Then last Friday he went against his word which pissed me off because he said "I promise it will be done by next friday"

Like I said it was not for free, in numerous pm's sent to him I have told him I recognize he is a business bla bla bla and I really appreciate everything he is doing. Just because I am/was a friend doesnt mean im not a paying customer like the rest. Because I am/was a friend he was able to keep pushing back the dates.

Every spare moment I had I made drives up to Wangara. Normally every Friday and Saturday. Just this last Friday I opted to do a test before everybody else (lied to the school saying I had a driving test) So I could go up to Wangara earlier to help out.....
Id also often do a parts run on a Saturday after Soccer, take a trip up to wangara and help out.
But sometimes I was sitting around for an hour doing nothing because I was waiting for him to finish a cup of tea.

Another word of advice - best not to slag off a mate of mine on an open forum :evil
If you read the post, I put up a picture of the progress/lack of progress and expressed how dissapointed I was that he broke a promise. I did not slag off his business or his mechanical skills which is how he seemed to have taken it.

As a point of interest we were doing it at "mates rates" and as discussed had no intention of charging you for ALL the time we spent on the car.

I
was whining because he kept telling me itd be done by this date.
The only time I told you it would be ready was Friday. I have not promised it at any other time. I apologised for that and told you I had Mon/tues free to work on it!
Every spare moment I had I made drives up to Wangara. Normally every Friday and Saturday.
Oh yes - that saturday you turned up at 1.30pm when I had been in work since 7am and you expected me to work till 5pm - get a grip!!

(lied to the school saying I had a driving test)
So you lie regularly??
But sometimes I was sitting around for an hour doing nothing because I was waiting for him to finish a cup of tea.
Abit like me waiting for you to turn up on saturday then? I am entitled to a tea break - and an hour it was not!

Just by stating the lack of progress when you know that more was done is slagging off. If you get this upset by one broken deadline you have alot to learn!

Be careful Jay. Ever heard of defamation of character??

Ok guys enough is enough - this is of no interest to anyone (on an open forum) but the persons concerned.
The only reason for time is so everything dosen't happen at once.
If Macca's home delivered there'd be one less drunk on the road.
