Ute tray floor. What have people used and what about water??

Post by skin_dog »

Hi guys and gals, here's one for all the ute owners.
Just wondering what others have used for the floor in the tray? I'm probably going to use marine ply but my main concern is how to fix it down? I was thinking sikaflex, but having said that is it meant to be a water tight seal or does the water need to get under in order to drain out? If it is sealed up where does the water go? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated, also pics would be good too.

Cheers, Ryan

Original was 9mm sheet of ply & 3mm sheet of hard masonite & screwed down the sides & front to back cross braces via the cargo rails, and sealed with a bitumus sealer, then sealed around the edges when screwed in place.
Up underneath the rear parcel tray there are 2 drain holes (left n right) with a drain tube right thru the floor to the outside.
The only reason for time is so everything dosen't happen at once.
If Macca's home delivered there'd be one less drunk on the road.

Thanks for the help blue. One of the drain holes is there but the other seems to have been welded over some time ago. Just another little thing that will need to be tended to i guess.
