Removing chrome from rear windscreen

Post by 4d »

I was just wondering if any of you gents have some pearls of wisdom on removing rear windscreen chrome?
I got the front ones off easily but the rear ones aren't so forgiving. I suspect the rubber is a little older and I may need to replace it.

Anyway my specialist tools (screwdrivers) and I aren't winning. Help

If you are replacing the rubber (which you should) cut around the screen with a stanley knife (or similar), peel the rubber away and remove the trim without damaging it, remember that it is much easier to get a new rubber...almost impossible to get good straight trims!

If the rubber is hard you should cut it away.

So the spare set of trims that came with the car may be sought after

4d, Definatly don't fall into that dreaded Evilbay trap.
You best of keeping them, until your car is finished anyways.
