Different Trim Codes - Same trim??

Post by EKWagon »

HI I have an interesting question...............

Can two cars built in different plants with teh same colour trim have different trim codes?

reason being
I have two cars with same paint codes, top codes etc and the same coloured trim, BUT the tags are the same EXCEPT the trim code?
Both are Rose Coral and Barrossa Burgandy inserts, to look at, but how come the codes are different

Melbourne Built car: 772-972
Adelaide Built car: 772-965

any ideas would be great??

Yeah Mark, that was my first thought, but I know the history of both cars and it is unlikely, thus my thought about the codes used at different assembly points?

P.S - could anyone with the knowledge decode the two sets of trim codes ?

Trim code 972 is " Rose Coral and Barossa Maroon "

Trim code 965 is also "Rose Coral and Barossa Maroon"

that is according to my GMH master parts catalogue.

No idea as to why the same trim colours are under different codes but the two separate assembly plants for the origin of the cars may have a part to play in the two codes being different ??
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Cool, that is what I was quietly hoping for, and highlights another annomolly for the codes used at GMH on these cars, I wonder if there are any other trims that have codes doubled up?

it is great to unearth this stuff LOL

Hi All,
Old Member – but never posted. I have a FB – yes, Seagull grey with Grecian white and Mephisto & Chianti Red 225 (Standard old colours it seems).
The problem being is I believe the seats may have been changed at some point. As the tops of both back rests are just plain red.
I have seen other cars around with white/grey back inserts and others with Red back inserts – both with weld lines pressed; and again others with Star patters the same as the doors.

I think both seats should have the Star Patterned embossed and with Weld lines engraved - Grey or white in colour, but really I have no idea.
Can anyone tell me what it should be?

My cars Codes are:
BODY : FB 225
TRIM: 653-815
PAINT: 585-9892
INSERT: 585-9562
TOP: BLANK

I have had this car for about 5 years now and its about to be painted and put back together!!!!
