boot lids

Post by matches »

has anyone else noticed a difference in shape between fb and ek boot lids? i got a spare boot off a fb with my car along with some other parts when i bought it.
the boot off the fb was in a lot better condition than the one on the ek so i thought " i'll swap them and save myself a heap of work"
wrong! the fb boot lid has more curve over the width of it than the ek boot lid and doesn't fit up properly.
is it just my car or has anyone else found this?

i thought the same thing. but after trying to fit it up there is a fair difference in mine. but with the age of these cars who really knows what could've happened to them over the years (damage, flexing ect)?

They all have different part numbers according to my master parts cattledog but I'd say that would be more likely because of the different badge mounting holes between the FE to EK bootlids rather than a difference to the bootlid shape and design.

I've got an FC bootlid on one of my FB standards and apart from the above mentioned badge mount holes, everything else looks the same.

As far as I know FE to EK bootlids are interchangeable and FE to EK sedan rear doors are interchangeable but I'm no expert.

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

no worries, i wouldn't be surprsed if it my car, it has been shunted in the arse at some stage of its life so i would say it hasn't been straightened out right. i was just wondering.
