Consider your carpet
Consider your carpet
Just thought I'd pass on some advice about trans tunnel mods.
Before you do anything, consider your carpet!
If you are going to get custom carpet then you can do pretty much anything. The best policy is KIS though as it will mean less work and probably look better in the long run.
If you want off the shelf molded carpet, don't modify or make only slight changes, if you are fitting a big trans go for a CRS Trans Tunnel or the EK Auto floor, then you can order an EK Auto carpet and it will fit.

I used Hq panel van tunnel, as for the custom carpet, I got the back EK moulded carpet, and the front I got the HQ-Z Moulded carpet and took it to the local trimmer after I cut the excess off the edges, and they just hemmed it to stop it fraying up.Fitted well and stops some knuckle head trying to blow wind up your ass saying it will cost heaps cause he has to make one from scratch.
Hope this helps.

i think my carpet was $320,, custom made,,but it was done with the rest of trim which was out so i dont know if it may have cost more if it was just the carpet ,, cause they mite want more labour to pull out seat but they are quick to get out so it shouldnt be much dearer,,, just for those that may want a comparitive price,,, and it fit perfect
da!
when they start building them like that again i will buy a new car of them
Doing an EK Sedan now, hence the postbexterity wrote:and me too so it seems!!!
do u / can u do the custom stuff ??
I was also advising someone else on theirs and thought I'd spread the word.
Other alternatives are that if you are running a centre console you can get the standard molded carpet and split it in the middle to get a fit.
Best advice though is to get a CRS tunnel (or similar) and buy EK Auto carpet off the shelf. Less messing around modding the tunnel and then sorting out the carpet.
That is exactly what I did Stinky, only thing you need to do if you use a CRS tunnel is to loan a heat gun for half an hour and work out the factory auto ridge which is in the moulded carpets (unless you braced on the inside).Job done. I think I was part guinea pig on here at the time as no one had got to the carpet stage with a CRS tunnel in.
This is USA red from Knox Carpets, much better match colour wise..
