J's EK doin some foolay siek skidz bro (vid)
DNA - SAAS black expanded mesh with chrome accessories from Bunnings, fairly simple to secure behind an FE grille, not sure about FB/EK though.
J - Think outside the square (circle, whatever) and you might surprise yourself and others. I have heard of stove parts being used on custom grilles (pun not intended)
Trev - It was at Philip Island Easter 2006 for the FE/FC Nats, no V8 though just a lowly 161S. Copped a defect for too low on the way back, then another defect for other shtit when trying to get the too low removed .

This is not a huge update, but as it is the holidays I am getting around to doing things that I havent had the time for.
Firstly:
My dash was all kinda ugly, had a fair amount of chips...
I sanded it down
I grabbed the un-read financial times and covered my windows
Just added a coat of flat black
and it looked a lot better!
also who ever painted the car got a bit lazy with the interior paint.
Had over spray on steering column and and brake lever so I gave them a quick squirt.
Secondly:
Yesterday I went to Bunnings and picked up some MDF
Over all aim is to make this:
Although its an fc it is pretty much the same boot and shape so here is what I had to work with:
Bonny got ready and I got out the cutter
Firstly I cut up a sheet into three planks, about 200mm
had 1x850 plank and 2x750
I then screwed it together, and moved the wheel into the desired position
Once that was all done I made a cardboard template and cut the floor into shape. I had heaps of fun getting it in and out making tiny little adjustments so I didnt rip my rubbers
And then I started cutting the side panels, this is as far as I got. I am still deciding if I want them leaning like in the picture of vertical.
Im predicting the boot will be finished by the end of the week, next week I will move onto doing door trims and my glovebox.
So in the next month I should have a stereo and some doof doof in the back so I dont have to listed to the sick little groans of the worn out grey.
Also, If you can have a hunt around red dot. I found some sheet metal signs with old cars on them for $7.

Hi J,
I'm very happy to learn you are finding good use for any spare time you have on your hands..............
That "unread" Financial Times - looks better upside down - at least the "trends" do........
One suggestion - you may wish to consider proofing what is going to be hidden underneath the MDF - just thinking ahead when you one day decide to go back in there........... may avoid a nasty shock........
I might also suggest sealing the underside of the MDF - there will be a lot of evaporation/condensation under that covering and it may cause some bulging....
Another suggestion (and these are purely suggestions) would be to provide some re-enforcement to prevent those large panels bow-ing under any weight you place on them..........
good work, keep going.........
Like what you have done with your dash/steering column - matt is a great way of hiding imperfections - and will reduce reflection.....
frats,
Rosco
