Hi Matches,
I replaced mine two years back - it had to be pressed off - and the new one pressed on - I would suggest replacing both (they come in a set) or you will quickly wear the new one by using the old one -
I had an engineer do mine - I don't trust any of my local garages - one day, I'll get a press...

frats,
Rosco

the crankshaft gear should have holes in it to allow the puller bolts to go into it .... camshaft is press only ....

As the other guys have said, use a puller to get it off. It's hard but be persistant. As for getting the new one on, I didn't see anyone say, but (as an old Grey motor Ace once told me) you can knock it on with a big hammer and drift. I have done this (with care) and it didn't need to be pressed. Don't go too far!

further to that .... put the gears in the oven on about 100 degrees for 20 mins or so then quickly run them out to the shed and bang them on, makes the job alot easier!

Sammy.
