How many's left??

Post by Kingaz »

Just speaking with my Dad and we were discussing old cars and how many have been destroyed.... I was wondering if there is a site, record etc of how many EK's are left and the number of utes, PV, wagons etc that have been crushed or still around.

Think you'll be able to help me out on this one Matt

You probably won't find the figures you are asking for on the numbers crushed or still around.I'd say that would be one of those needle in a haystack efforts.
Rest well assured that there would be only a small percentage still around in various conditions.Metal recycling is very popular with current scrap metals prices so todays EK is increasingly becoming tomorrows Mitsubishi.
I'll guess a ball-park figure of less than 5% left if that and that goes from restored/restorable ones to rusting farm wrecks.

Terry.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Hey Adam,

I have pondered this question many times too. Terry is right. There is an ACTIVE campaign by scrap metal merchants that results in many of our beloved Holdens being crushed.

Other options for you include...

There is a chap on the FE FC forum who has been collecting ID numbers for that model for many years. You could post on there to get some sort of comparison.

The only other thought is to contact your State's vehicle registration agency and see if they are prepared to search their database for currently registered FB EK's.

Regards
Stewart

Dr Terry also collect the numbers on this forum as well for all models from 48-215 to HR so if anyone has numbers he would appreciate it!

Hoping everyone is finding my new Avatar less "Distracting" and of course it is not directed at anyone or anything either currently living or deceased, hopefully it may just be allowed to remain!
