Yeah mate keep it up!! You have the contacts both on this forum and through your affiliation with SM magazine so you should never run out of ppl telling your to keep working on your car and not buy a newer one 8)

Today I managed to do a bit of work to the EK, which I have been meaning to do for a while. This cost me $12 and has altered the look of the front end.

Replacing grill with mesh:
Thanks to Rosco whos excellent description (pg3) on how to remove grill.

What I did first was unbolt all the visual bolts, after screwing around for a while I also managed to remove the indicator chome pieces.

I bought some wire mesh, about 1.5 meters (it had excess) and cut it so it would fit the grill area. After folding it over to make it look darker I cut the mesh so it would fit perfectly. Stabbed holes for bolts with a screw driver and bolted it in.

(these lower bolts will be replaced with bullets)

after putting the indicators back on I used back tape to hide the slots in where the old grill used to meet up with the Indicators, tidying up the look a bit.
Image

After that was all done I decided to cut those u-bolts.

After nagging Dad for a week to bring the hacksaw home this just had to happen...

Im much happier with the way the grill looks now, I want to get the little crosses you see on the front guards on fb specials (model before this one) and put 3 in the grill for something different.

I also managed to get a waterproof car cover... best bit about it is it actually covers the car - unlike my last one

gonna get the inside sorted - here is my idea for the doors
probably just mdf wrapped in white leather with some fusion 6-9 speakers

and something like this in the boot, will make a little opening section on the sides to store jumper leads and water etc. Probably wrapped again in white with some kind of mat on the floor

J,
Ol son, looks like the kustom bug has hit you and are trying different things! Great too see. Keep it up and its always fun to try different things. Get an old grill and see what mess you can make of it. I put an Fj grill into a FC one and ikts looks real good. Next get rid of the door handles and it will go from there........!!! EK is looking great , cheers (make sure you get a angle grinder and lop off the excess on the U bolts or they will scrape and bring you undone!!!!)

Gday J,
I would recommend having a go at getting your bonnet bump stops setup correctly. It would make the front look heaps better :)
