thats a pretty good shell tony,,should be a good car whats the front frame like
i was glad i sand blasted so i new there was no rust hidding cleans it up good ,although you find any repairs to panels that you never would have found with out bare stripping,,,,,,just tell em to take time and wisk it bit at a time or they could warp ,,,even if its a couple hundred more ,,, take there time its saves alot of stripping
when they start building them like that again i will buy a new car of them
hey Karsten
The shell has next to no rust in it just a small square on the drivers floor and a little bit round the rear window and what you see in the firewall mate. The subframe requires a little bit of work as i had to cut the battery box out and i am going to make a new one.Helps to have mate whose a boilermaker/fitter too.All the front suspension is now powder coated and all new rubbers etc will be going in.As for the sandblasting i did alot of research on it and found one not far from home who did my mates ss hatchback torana and did a great job.So here we go mate the beer fridge is full so starts the long journey as i said i dont rush things.
cheers

The body looks good, hopefully the blasting won't uncover to much more work for you. The body on mine looked pretty good until I had it blasted, ended up having to replace 4 floor pans and 1 outer sill. But I guess thats still good compared to what some have started with.
Make sure you keep us up to date with progress info and pickies.
Nice one Tony
Thanks for deciding to share your pics with us
It looks to be in good shape from here.
Good luck with the project.
Do you have some pics of it before it came apart?
Cheers

Good stuff Tony. Its good to do you 'homework' as you say in your first post. I see from your avatar the EK still has original plates...have you still got both of them?
Damn no i haven,t got the plates Stewart.i put them on hold in the rta and let the time limit run out so i thought i will have historic plates on it or my own plates not sure yet mate.Trust me this body is in great nick i was surprised when i stripped it guys its that good.I followed your build mal with much interest and have most of your pix saved on a file for reference(and inspiration)once again well done. Will try and find some photos Jeff but we had a pc crash and lost a bit so i will have to check.Once again i hope i do you proud as they are a great car with alot of style.

Hi all
The blaster i found quoted 1300 to do the job and a mate told me to ring this bloke in wollongong and he came and looked at the car and quoted 2000 plus gst.He has a reputation of doing a great job but S&%# he charges like a wounded bull.Maybe i should have paint stripped the car to save the dollars.

That sounds pretty dear but Im not sure on prices, different states. I just pulled a EJ ute to a shell and got it sandblasted right through, great job for $300- and in primer.
Now thats a good price. i have never seen prices vary so much but hes goota no what hes doing.from memory i think Mals was about 500 so with my quotes they are sounding dear.

Well all i know i said i was going to sandblast but when i heard the price i thought i can save a couple of $$$$$$$$$$ if i strip the flat panels(and safer too) so heres some updated photos of the roof.wOW what a mess stripper can make but i think of the $$$$$$$$.
