Hi Grey,
Now thats what we all wanted to see, more work on the right car.
When I originally fitted my tank I ran a length of 1 x 1 box under the front edge of the boot floor to support the tank. Then when it was all fitted up prior to painting I found that the box section I welded in hit on the diff so out with the grinder. Theres not a lot of room under there with these big tanks fitted.
Greg you might be able to tell me as you don't have your sender unit fitted yet, the tube where the fuel comes out and goes to the motor, when fitted does it point to the drivers side or passenger side. I may have mine in up side down. Don't know if thats possible but the guage is doing some funny things.

You are right it is a 56 I hit the wrong digit.
Taxis maybe but damn fast with a lot of professional drivers all as good as each other.
I love old cars racing showing whatever! Just got to keep them going.
Mal the sender unit should face the drivers side. What is the guage doing?

Greg when i was checking out my fuel guage i thought it was reading ass about, being when it was empty it was reading full. But after having another look at it maybe I should have had my glasses on then too.

Well People,
Its been a while since I posted but things are starting to look good time wise again.
I have finished some odds and ends and now most of my spare time will be back on the EK.
Finished a small repair on the lower inner rear drivers side but I think I will replace the whole lot later.
I found a NOS 1/4 and thats going to be my next task, will keep you all posted.

Tank should look at home painted nice just breaks the rear a little.

Whats are you planing on doing with the sender unit for the Tank...special cover, the lines etc?...anything?
I've been working at putting mine in the same way it came out, only need to 'massage' the tank a little to clear around the rear spring mounts, i should have the frame built and in by next weekend, (so give me 2 or 3 weeks for Pics!)
Was curious as to your plans with it

Hey Mr Nomad,
I thought I would put the tank in this way for 2 reasons,
1/It fits in with no modification to the tank itself
2/Gives the impression of a drop tank which I have always liked.
I was going to run the sender unit hose and wiring between the tank and chassis rail so you wont see it once the tank is in place.
I haven't thought about any cover at this stage but I when the bumper goes back on you wont see it anyway.
I need to do some research on the paint that needs to be used cause the tank is gal plated I think.

Congratulations to everyone that attended the nationals and to those who won prizes, well done
I couldn't make it but the little time I had left over the weekend I used to do some more work, finally!
I got the shits with the rear right 1/4 because it had a little rust and had been stretched around the dog leg after hitting something years ago, I just wasn't happy with it.
So after finding a NOS one I decided to cut it off and replace!!!!!!!!!!!!!


With the 1/4 gone you can see how I made the frame to hold the tank.


Still lots of work to do to make the NOS 1/4 fit the body.


I need to check the boot lid for gaps and also the rear door gaps before its welded in place. I am trying extremely hard not to use any bog (my own challenge) so far so good
Does anyone know where I can get a lead wiping kit from?????

Hi everyone,
Well I cant believe thats its been 8 months since I struck a blow on the old girl
Got into the shed today with a rare day off and inspired by all you guys decided to finish the left sill.
First I had to tidy all the spot welds and get rid off what was left of the original sill.



I had to cut the B pillar away from the body to let the sill slide up into it.


I still have to massage the sill with the doors on before its welded in place.
Have to make sure all the gaps are right.
Hopefully some more progress over the weekend.
