I always start off low to get interest, but you have to be prepared to sell low aswell, Trev 8) .

Comes down to whats in the engine I guess Bex which will ultimately determine its value - and what its actually worth to yourself ? I.e worth holding onto it incase something goes in the current one, was it reliable etc, do you have the storage room etc. What was it originally out of .... maybe a monaro engine etc.

I am facing a similar dilema with my 179 which was from HD x2 but I think there ment to have HP now, so maybe its just a standard HD so not sure. I have receipts in the last 3 months totalling $1200 for my 179 ..... and that was just for reconditioning (head and bottom end) and the purchasing and fitting of a billet straight cut gearset. It has all the neat stuff, bored 192 40/80 cam, terra roller rockers, ported terra head, HV fuel pump chromed, HV oil pump, 80amp (pulled down re-wound) bosch alternator chromed, elec dizzy, eh sump, cast alloy cover, blue printed and balanced ..... I know i have spent big money on it, probably more then $3500 over the last couple of years, its fresh and never been fired atm.

I dont think I would get close to half the money I have spent on it ... so its turning into a feature in the garage on a stand. One day It just may go into an EK wagon :) For me its worth too much to throw away and I know its a kick arse red ... all it needs is a turbo or charger.

If its just a stocker off a model which is pretty common and you cant store it and you want it gone, start it out low and just let it ride .. any chrome stuff just list it seperately as they seem to be sort after.

After Dr terrys comments could be a HD x2 .. know it came out of one ( was thinking the engine must have been changed or something in the HD x2)

Hi Bex,
it's not going to cost you anything to keep it..................
I have a shed full of stuff - know what it's like to have to purchase from a stockist........... but, someone in need may just be around the corner - me even.......

My offer of $400 with Box is still good! Specially for an engine I can't hear running & a box I can't test drive!

Also I am a bit concerned about the over heating & the .... (to quote you Bec)

"t was just a *vrooooooooooooooooooooooooooom...........................BANG!* people in the city actually ducked for cover lol "

the bang was the radiator. it blew a gaping hole in it. i said that in my thread  my concern was never with the engine, more the trimatic if anything.

after i replaced the radiator and thermastat it didn't overheat at all, Steve.

if you are serious about making an offer you have my number.

it was also written in the ad when the engine was being removed so anyone could have come and looked at it, test drove it & heard it well before then.

have you got a bench tester? 8)
