just went for a cruz,, ohh,, im in love with my car
drove out this road near my place to this pub called the mulgowie hotel nothing there but a pub and farms bout 10ks from home ,,,no one there at ther pub and i pulled up for a check,,,, and the bar made comes out with her phone saying ohh awsome can i take some pics of your car

yeah it seems to be geting better ,,,ive settled on a sticky intake valve was main prob,,,,the water in exaust is condensation must make lots more with twin pipes and not much heat blowing through it,,,i wonder if malcom had this with his ,,,although he has more moden style with the cat ect ,,,bigest drama is the rear main is leeking plentyfull amounts of oil after a drive it leaves a puddle about the size of the top of a beer can ,,,bugger ,,will have to come out,,,will wait till ive taken it to trimmer and have sorted every thing ,,steering alignment ect,, then will pull it out ,,,my local garage fella seems to know alot about greys so i mite take it to him ,,,he also has a puller ,,,he since told me,,,hehe!,,,and i borrowed one from troy fb ,,in tassie ,,,but it will get sorted ova next few months,,,,have got some pics will try post them later

I'm certainly no expert when it comes to seals but.......... it may take some time for that wick rear main seal to soak up enough oil to stop it - or slow it down - I am of the opinion that replacement seals do not contain asbestos and many have told me they have trouble from new with the replacements....
oil is becoming cheaper than petrol - a paradox I know.......
It will become the call.... fill her up with oil and check the petrol......
I am not going to replace my rear main until after Yamba - I will carry oil to top up as required........ just a "friendly" warning to those following - I may be rust-proofing your car.........
Mine is only dropping when I stop the engine - there is little trailing under the car, but like yourself, annoying to find a small "puddle" when I come back to it......

I'm certainly no expert when it comes to seals but.......... it may take some time for that wick rear main seal to soak up enough oil to stop it - or slow it down - I am of the opinion that replacement seals do not contain asbestos and many have told me they have trouble from new with the replacements....

yeah im not happy about it leeking rosco but can live with it untill i have time to do it ,,,,one of the things interstate teaches you is that it will maybe go forever but when time permits fix it just for peace of mind,,,
im a fussy one with oil leaks,, had a 290 formula cummins in my old atkinson and it had a cork gasket at the end of cam sharft held in place by the flywheel housing ,,,leaked for ages and one day i took gearbox flywheel ,clutch ,and flywheel housing of to get to the back of block fixed it and put it together and it cost me 36 hundred dollars to fix that leak but i did ,,,after id replaced flywheel housing ,,clutch.,, imput sharft, on box and new flywheel bolts mmm!! yeah you change them after every time cause stress on old bolts
you can bet your dollars every thing is worn out and theres always that can of worms waiting to be found
just to show my love of atkinsons my dad had a new one when iwas a kid,,and im on my third one so thats four atkinsons over two generations
just wish i could still get a new one same with that thought on ek acctually
the worlds gone mad ,,and lost its slyle,,,,with mass production cool is not available any more
so i hope my 32 year old atkinson will last 30 more till i retire or im in trouble with my image

I began my passion with trucks in 1960 - my (to be) brother in law had an old Bedford conventional - red with black guards, this one was the up market more powerful unit - it had a chrome strip across the lip of the bonnet with two "eyes" on it............... from age 5, I used to go to work with him every opportunity I got - this continued through his next three trucks (750 F Austin diesel, AACO 180 and ACCO 2150B) I got to drive them when I could reach the pedals and see over the dash............ not for long, but wow - very impressed. I used to love watching him double clutch back through the gears - and that two speed EAton diff - amazing stuff - yes, you're right - I feel we have lost that aura of the old stuff - his last truck a turbo 6 Mack (real Mack before Renault) was just too easy - and that power.......... just push it down a bit further if you are thinking of changing back, he would say - and the big engine wiould "walk away" again........
I'm a dinosaur Karsten - love old stuff but can also see that technology and downtime are big killers for truckies............ all cards are stacked against them - I wouldn't take it on unless it was a hobby......

yeah rosco,,i believe the tecno junk is far less reliable and would not own it,,,,the best saying is ,,,,in simplicity is reliability,,,,,i swear by it ,,our cars live on because of this,,,my missus cranberry wont be here in 20 let alone 50 years

Modern technology has its place, Karsten - or we'd be running magnetos and updraught carbs............ being the proud owner of an EK is testament that innovation has made its mark (although the General was probably dragged along backwards kicking and screaming to the contrary) and given us electric wipers and auto trans.............
How's that engine running now - you've had it on the road for five days....... any sign it is coming good..........?
