Rotor Button

Post by anotherfbnewbie »

Hi All,
After a bit of fiddling about, (drain tank, flush radiator, clean fuel line, pump and carby) i have my inherited FB running.

Not bad after 18 years of sitting idle.

It idled lke a dream but when i gave it a decent rev, the rotor button broke. The locating lug appeared to just disintegrate, resulting in go no more.

after visits to super cheap, motor traders, and sprint auto, i finally found what is apparently the correct replacement rotor button. part # GB73

When fitted, it Idles beutifully but the rotor button slips under revs.

Is this the correct part, and if so what else should i be looking for to resolve this problem.

BTW, original 138 grey motor with no modifications.

Any advice apreciated.

I think their were two brands of Dizzies, Bosch and Lucas, maybe yours is the other one and the rotor is the wrong size.
I have a Bosch dizzy and the part number for the rotor is GB73.
